On last June 24 was released on the French screens State of Play, an adaptation of the British mini-series of politics spying, with Robin Wright Penn. The ex-Kelly Capwell plays there Anne Collins, at the sides of some great names such as Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck or Helen Mirren. Note the small part played by Wendy Makkena, who was in Santa Barbara Katie, Keith Timmons' sister in flashbacks in 1986.
Robin has besides finished the shootings of the romantic comedy New York, I Love You, by French actor Yvan Attal, and of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, in which she plays the title role.

A few months after the publication of her first novel (see the News of 11/04/2008), Eileen Davidson (ex-Kelly Capwell) has just released her second one, Dial Emmy for Murder. We stay in the soap-operas universe, with this time the murder of a presenter of the Daytime Emmy awards ! Suspense and humour on the rendezvous, while waiting for the publication of a third book that the actress is currently finishing to write. 
Let us remind that Eileen still conjugates her passion for writing with her role of Ashley Abbott Carlton in The Young and the Restless on CBS.

A Martinez (ex-Cruz Castillo) leaves One Life to Live !
Ten months after his arrival in the ABC soap (see the News of 08/01/2008), the ex-Cruz Castillo of Santa Barbara has just shot his last scene. Arrived on the screens on September 10 2008, he will leave them next June 10.
The production insists on the fact that this duration was planned since the beginning and that it is thus not a surprise for the actor. A has well finished with One Life to Live. Already.

The reconversions of some former actors of Santa Barbara are sometimes surprising. We already knew that Robin Mattson (ex-Gina Capwell) was passionate of cooking (see the News of September 2000) and the author of cook books. Since the beginning of this year, she also writes for the New-Yorker edition of Natural Awakening some cooking recipes.
It is the website Robin Mattson's Official Home Page which delivers this information. From this website, you can also access the actress' official fan-club. Many gifts and information await its members, against a fee of 15 dollars per year (18 dollars for ouside USA fans).

To make economies, the network CBS was saying to hesitate between renewing Without a Trace or Cold Case. It confirmed it yesterday : this is the second one which has been chosen. The show Without a Trace, starring Eric Close (ex-Sawyer Walker) will thus not know a 8th season next fall. 
The actor was playing the part of Agent Martin Fitzgerald since the very first episode in September 2002 (see the News of August 2002). After 160 episodes, and four also as director, Eric Close finds himself on forced rest. But as seen his popularity, no risk for us to find ourselves without a trace from him...

The nominations for the next Daytime Emmy awards ceremony have been announced yesterday on NBC.
To remark this year, the nomination as outstanding supporting actor of Vincent Irizarry (ex-Dr Scott Clark) for the part of Dr. David Hayward that he has taken back last year in All my Children (see the News of 08/15/2008).
The ceremony will take place next August 30 and will be aired on American television on the network The CW.

Still last year, she was present there as Sean Penn's wife. But this year, that will be quite different : Robin Wright Penn is going to be a member of the jury of Cannes film festival !
The ex-Kelly Capwell of Santa Barbara is indeed going to walk on the stairs of the festival which is going to begin on Wednesday, but with the honor to be a part of those who are going to elect and to award on May 24th the prizes reserved for the best films of the 2009 international cinema.
At 43 years old, it is about a true recognition of Robin's talent and artistic choices, a little more than twenty years after her departure of Santa Barbara.
A happy event which falls however at the bad moment : the actress is in full divorce procedure with her husband, actor-director Sean Penn, one year after a first procedure which had finally been cancelled (see the News of 26/05/2008).
We will follow the Cannes film festival with some more interest this year, even if, during the duration of the festivities, the jury is supposed to remain the most discreet and the most silent as possible...

May 18 : a date to remind for the American televiewers. This is that day that Gordon Thomson (ex-Mason Capwell) will do his comeback on the small screen, in the soap Days of our Lives. The actor will play Walter Kent, the father of a new character recently arrived in the soap.
At 64 years old, Gordon is gone for a few months of new adventures, at least if the public follows him.

Justin Deas (ex-Keith Timmons), Marj Dusay (ex-Pamela Conrad), Robert Newman (ex-Kirk Cranston) and Kim Zimmer (ex-Jodie Walker) will soon have no house anymore... The American network CBS has just announced this week that it puts an end to the daytime soap Guiding Light, the oldest soap still in production, born in 1952.
The attempts to make the directing younger launched last year (see the News of 03/07/2008) will not have had reason of the constant decline of the ratings these last years.
On September 18 2009, after more than 15 700 episodes, this will be the end of an institution of the American television...
