Homage : Paul Burke (1926-2009)

09/14/2009

Actor Paul Burke died on Sunday, September 13th from the consequences of a leukaemia.
He had begun his career at the beginning of the 50s, before becoming known of the American public for two TV shows where he held one of the main roles in the 60s : Naked City and 12 O' Clock High.
Appeared in tens of television shows (of which Dynasty between 1982 and 1988), Paul Burke was the second interpreter on screen of C.C. Capwell in Santa Barbara. A more attractive C.C. and with a more sportive look than his predecessor Peter Mark Richman, what perhaps caused his departure of the show after hardly more than a month of episodes, replaced in his turn by Charles Bateman in October 1984.
Paul Burke had ended his actor's career in 1990, after a last appearance in an episode of Columbo.
The actor leaves behind him his wife Lyn and three children, born from a first marriage. He was 83.

Deauville makes a tribute to Robin Wright

09/08/2009

This is really the year of the festivals for Robin Wright. After having been member of the jury at the last Cannes Festival (see the News of 05/11), the actress has the honors of the 35th American film Festival of Deauville, France. Her last movie, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, will indeed be projected in premiere this Thursday, September 10th. The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, from the name of the character played by Robin Wright, tells the deceptions of a housewife whose husband obliged her to move in with him in a calm and retired suburb. The movie will be released on November 11 on the French screens, then as from November in the United States.
But this is not all, since the ex-Kelly Capwell of Santa Barbara will also receive this Thursday a tribute from the festival for her whole career, just like Harrison Ford or Andy Garcia ! So a nice consecration, at the moment when the actress knows a rebounding divorce with actor-director Sean Penn.
The photos of Robin Wright in Deauville, soon on this page...
