The news of the soap-opera world in the United States | The news of the soap-opera world in France | |
Joe Marinelli leaves the hospital The news has not been confirmed yet by the network ABC, but Joe Marinelli (ex-Bunny Tagliatti in Santa Barbara) is going to leave definitively the soap General Hospital where he intermittently intervened since 1999 in the role of Sorel. His contract was indeed not renewed for the new season to come. John Beck returns in daytime The one who was judge David Raymond in the last years of Santa Barbara, after having deserted the soaps stages (he could be seen before in Flamingo Road and Dallas...), will make this month his big come-back in Passions. From August 6, he will be Bruce, an old friend of Julian Crane's. These episodes will not be aired before two years in France. |
Passions arrives in France ! I already announced its arrival in France on this same page in May 2000 and, finally, here is Passions arrived in France ! The last born US daytime soaps indeed made its arrival on TF1 on last 30 July, taking the succession of Sunset Beach which has just finished. It is hard to form an opinion after so few episodes, but the show has at least the merit to dissociate itself from the commonplaces by adding a fantastic touch with the intervention of a witch and other daemons unexpected in this type of program ! Lastly, for those who would have missed the beginnings of Sunset Beach, TF1 daily repeats the show in its entirety since July 30 at 11 a.m.. |

Stacy
Edwards in tracks Arrived on July 11, the movie Driven by Renny Harlin (see the News of September 2000), written and starring Sylvester Stallone, is always on the French screens in August. Not that the motor races scenes (the main subject of the film) are of an astounding interest, but Stacy Edwards (ex-Hayley Benson) makes there some appearances on the tracks with Stallone himself. A curiosity for the fans of Stacy, in absence of being amateur of action and primary psychology. |
Jed
Allan in mourning
Toby Brown, Jed Allan's wife, brutally died in June. The couple was married since 1958 and had three children, now adult, Dean, Rick and Mitch (seen in Santa Barbara in 1990 in the role of young C. C. Capwell). All our condolences to the unforgettable last interpret of C. C.. |

Second
jet
After Hollander's Deal (see the News of February 2001), here that arrived the second book written by Peter Mark Richman, who was the first C. C. Capwell of the Santa Barbara history, in 1984. The Rebirth of Ira Masters is a collection of novels of variable length, but all very whimsical and surprising. Who would have believed C. C. Capwell such an analyzer of the human relations ?! |
Face
lift
The Santa Barbara Memory Page changes of skin ! The site indeed offered a face lift for its reopening, last 31 July. On program : photos, portraits of characters and their interpreters (as soon as the pages will reappear !), and an innovation : some episodes summaries ! A site to be rediscovered. |
