Homage : Dane Witherspoon (1957-2014)

It is A Martinez (ex-Cruz Castillo) who announced the sad news on his Facebook account : Dane Witherspoon, the first interpreter of Joe Perkins, died this weekend.
It is Santa Barbara which made known to the public Dane Witherspoon, by making of him the first hero of the show in July, 1984. The lassitude of the actor for his role and for the show and, as it is said, his lack of investment, will lead a few months after his arrival to his replacement by actor Mark Arnold. It will not prevent Dane from rebounding in another soap-opera, Capitol, from the next year in the role of Tyler McCandless.
Santa Barbara will however have allowed him to meet Robin Wright, his partner in the role of Kelly Capwell, whom he will marry in 1986 before divorcing two years later. He marries a few years after actress Tracy K. Shaffer, with whom he will have two sons.
Again divorced in 2011, Dane Witherspoon meanwhile definitively gave up his acting career to move into the ice cream business. He managed the ice cream company Licks, situated in Denver, Colorado, his home town.
Dane died on this March 29th 2014, at 56 years old. All our thoughts go to his family.

A few news of our favorite actors, on a private side...
For those who would have missed the information, Nicolas Coster (ex-Lionel Lockridge) got married ! The happy one, Russian Elena Borodulina, was her partner for several months. The couple united on January 31 of this year, and we wish them all the happiness of the world.
Other wedding : that of Jon Lindstrom (ex-Dr. Mark McCormick) with actress Cady McClain. The union took place in Beverly Hills, in the greatest secrecy, on February 14t. The couple had announced its engagement last December (see the News of 01/03).
Finally, another happiness, a birth : Todd McKee (ex-Ted Capwell) is a dad since last January 24 ! His daughter Harper was born healthy. The information had remained very discreet, the actor being little visible on the internet and the social networks.

Judith McConnell (ex-Sophia Capwell) reappears on TV in an advertising ! After Ikea and Cardstore, here she is in a commercial for Walgreens, an American drug retailing chain.
The video is accessible on-line on Santa Barbara Videos : le site Francais, just like Judith's previous commercial appearances !

Louise Sorel in a series and on stage !

It is tomorrow, on Wednesday March 05, that will be released online the first episode of the new web-series Beacon Hill, starring Louise Sorel (ex-Augusta Lockridge).
The series tells the political rivalries within two families in the rich district of Beacon Hill, in Boston. Louise plays Emily Tanner, joint manager of a coffeehouse where she collects the indiscretions of the various characters.
In the credits, we also find Crystal Chappell (ex-Jane Kingsley), also producer of the series. The 12 episodes of this first season will be proposed on every Wednesday on the website of the series.

It is not however Louise's only project because, from March 16th till April 20th, she will be on stage in New York !
In I Remember Mama, Louise and nine other comediennes will play the 25 roles of the part written in 1944 by John Van Druten. Directed by Jack Cummings III, the part tells the life of several women of the same family through the small moments of their life.

Robin Wright back in season 2

And here it goes again for a season 2 of House of Cards, the political thriller with Robin Wright (ex-Kelly Capwell) !
From today, February 14th, the 13 episodes of this new season are available on the on-demand internet provider Netflix.
Robin resumes her part of Claire Underwood, wife and accomplice of Frank, become vice-president of the United States and who always competes for the presidency by all means.
To discover in a few weeks in France, on channel Canal +.

Eva LaRue divorces

Eva LaRue (ex-Margot Collins) divorces ! The actress announced that she separates from her husband, Joe Cappuccio, whom she had married in June 2010.
Eva had already been previously married to John O'Hurley (ex-Stephen Slade) from 1992 till 1994, then to John Callahan (ex-Craig Hunt) from 1996 till 2005 (see the News of August 2004). She has a daughter, Kaya McKenna, born in December 2001, with this latter.

Nancy Lee Grahn receives in Las Vegas

On next March 15 and 16, all in Las Vegas ! Nancy Lee Grahn (ex-Julia Wainwright) will host a special weekend at the Red Rock Casino Hotel and Spa.
On the program : a session of questions and answers with Nancy, a raffle and a silent auction.
For the most spendthrift ones, Nancy even proposes a private dinner in her suite on Saturday evening, followed by a private breakfast on Sunday morning !

Every Thursday evenings from 7.30 pm till 9.00 pm in North Hollywood, for 35 dollars, spend one hour and a half in her company and discover her professional tricks.
A single regret : that Stacy did not mention her two years in Santa Barbara on her promotional poster, reproduced opposite...

Robin Wright in love and rewarded

Congratulations to Robin Wright ! The ex-Kelly Capwell of Santa Barbara won on Sunday the Golden Globe of the best actress in a TV drama for her part of Claire Underwood in House of Cards.
The 71th Golden Globes ceremony put her in competition in front of Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Taylor Schilling (Orange Is the New Black) and Kerry Washington (Scandal).

And one good thing leading to another, the actress confirmed her engagement with actor Ben Foster, her two-years boyfriend.
All our best happiness wishes to Robin Wright !

Nicolas Coster looking for funds

The Costers father and son are playing... Chemical Cut : it is the title of the movie in which Nicolas Coster (ex-Lionel Lockridge) and his son Ian are going to appear in duet... if the finances allow it !
On the Kickstarter site, you can help financially the movie to be shot, and so to allow the father and the son to find themselves together on-screen. Written, produced and directed by Marjorie Conrad, the movie tells the story of a retail seller avid to become a model, but who is going to know some disillusionments along the way.
Ian Coster will play her friend, whereas Nicolas will be a hobo living in the subway. What a program !
Every dollar matters, thus do not hesitate !

Homage : Carmen Zapata (1927-2014)

It is with sadness that we learnt today the death of Carmen Zapata, who was from 1985 till 1991 Carmen Castillo, the mother of Cruz, Ric and the young Carmen.
Born on July 15, 1927 in New York from parents of Mexican and Argentine origin, Carmen Zapata worked, throughout her career, at promoting the artistic talents of the American Hispanic community. She indeed participated actively in the creation of several foundations and organizations which still exist today.
After debuts on the boards on Broadway in 1946, the actress worked on many roles for theater, cinema, and especially for very many TV shows until 2002, year of her last role. Since then, she continued to teach comedy at the university, or to propose lectures. Her part of Carmen Castillo may have been recurring, she nevertheless marked the minds in the skin of this woman of character but very likeable.
Carmen Zapata died on January 05, 2014 in Van Nuys, California, from a cardiac insufficiency. We shall not forget her !
