Episode 160

Mason wakes up in a small seedy motel, without a penny. The prostitute with whom he spent the night with indeed stole all his money and his watch when she discovered who he was. Mason calls the Capwell residence for Kelly's help. He asks her to advance him some money and offers to accompany her at home. In Joe's flat, Mason realises that Kelly is gravely unsettled. Kelly, in full denial, fixes on Betsy, a doll which she connects with her mother in terrible flashbacks. Mason then calls Marcello and asks him to come to help Kelly as a matter of great urgency. Brick accepts Amy's proposal to come and live with the Perkins, in Joe's old room. Finally Amy seems ready to accept her love and accepts the engagement ring which Brick gives. She later accepts a call from her doctor, Dr Renfro, who fixes her an appointment concerning her pregnancy.  This call seems to have been guided by a mysterious man who, beside the doctor, is very interested in Amy and Brick. In State Street bar, Mason is surprised to see off-loading Hank Judson and a man. He is hit up to exhaustion by them, refusing to tell them where Gina lives. Learning the news of her marriage, Hank calls the Capwell residence and threatens Gina of his arrival. Marcello receives a visit from Kelly in his office. In the semi-conscious frenzy, Kelly recollects the day of the death of her mother. She had to go to the zoo with her, when Sophia was with a man. Kelly wakes up suddenly and runs away, claiming to be responsible for her death...

Episode 161

Mason is driven by Frank, the barman of State Street bar, to the presidential suite of the Capwell hotel. There, he asks Sophia to intervene to prevent the marriage of C.C. with Gina. Mason explains to him that he acts there only in his own interest, to keep a chance to one day recover his part of inheritance, today reserved for the son of Gina. Sophia hesitates, when Marcello suddenly arrives, thrown into a panic after the impromptu departure of Kelly during his session. Marcello explains that Kelly thinks she is responsible for the death of her mother because she could not keep her with her the day of the accident. For Sophia, it is currently necessary to show herself to Kelly to relieve her of her terrible troubles. Mason calls the charged judge to marry Gina and C.C. through his secretary Sarah. He succeeds so in cancelling the appointment without arising suspicion. Gina accepts Hank's visit, still so violent. Hank agrees to let her get married, hoping to be able to use financial benefits of this union later. Lionel, knowing that he will have to delay giving Mason the Chinese puzzle of Amanda Lockridge to have prevented the Capwell marriage, gives it to a jeweller so that he fabricates a copy. Meanwhile, Amy is accepted by Dr Renfro. The doctor asks her to leave him with Brick only, to ask various questions concerning his relations with the future mom. From their departure, he makes his report by telephone to a mysterious person. With the intention of finding Kelly in the gazebo of the Capwell property, Sophia goes to the Lockridge residence to join the place without being seen by C.C.. By entering the Lockridge's, she bumps into Augusta. She succeeds nevertheless in escaping her, since the residence has a secret tunnel which takes her up to the gazebo. There, she finds Kelly who discovers that her mother is alive. Forgetting immediately the guilt feelings which gnawed at her, Kelly hurries Sophia to accompany her in the residence to prevent the marriage before she is too much late...

Episode 162

Sophia refuses to intervene in the union of Gina's and C.C.'s marriage. She leaves Kelly to go back to the tunnel. She meets Lionel there, who helps her to get out of the Lockridge residence without being seen by Augusta. On the telephone, Lionel informs Mason that he will get the Chinese puzzle only if he succeeds in stopping the marriage. He tells him that Sophia is on route to the Capwell hotel. Augusta, persuaded that Lionel found Sophia during period of time where she had disappeared from the residence, has a new stage of jealousy. Augusta throws vegetables at him, before reconciling on the carpet of the living room. C.C. must leave Gina for business just before their union, which was postponed for two hours. United in the gazebo, Eden, Kelly and Ted discuss their desires concerning Sophia's return. Eden calls Sophia at the Capwell hotel to ask her to join them to discuss this problem. Mason accompanies them.  Eden stands alone opposing the fact that Sophia comes back in the family. She is fearful that Sophia will steal her place favoured in the heart of her father. Through inadvertence, Sophia stumbles on Gina in her room. Gina, suspicious that C.C. is avoiding her, then hurries up to join him at the Capwell hotel where his appointment was taking place. She urges him to finalise their union in the court. As C.C. reassures her on the fact that he likes her more than he has ever loved Sophia who disappointed him many times, Gina agrees to go back with him to the Capwell residence to get married into the family. Back there, C.C. signs in front of his children the official death of Sophia, necessary before wedding procedure. From the top of the staircase, Sophia watches over what takes place below...

Episode 163

The defect of a signature prevents Gina and C.C. from being able to get married this day as they had envisaged it. With rage, C.C. throws Mason out of the residence by using his security agents. Mason comes back some minutes later with both men supervising Hank, who prowled around the property. Mason suggests his father asks Gina for an explanation as for the identity of this individual. Gina waits for Hank to tell C.C. that he is a mad psychopath loving her from her past and that she does not succeed in getting rid of. She tells him that he violated Summer in the past, but lies to him by saying that they have never been lovers. Nonetheless suspicious, C.C. then entrusts Eden to tell him all about what she knows about the past of his future wife. Sophia, surprised by Brandon, is almost spotted by C.C.. At the request of Gina, she hides in a cupboard not to be seen by C.C. when he comes back into his room to get changed. She ends however up managing to go out of the residence without being seen by C.C.. Mason comes to search for the Chinese puzzle at Lionel's. But Lionel explains to him that it is not momentarily in his possession. Through inadvertence, Warren tells his mother that there is a two-way mirror in the presidential suite of the Capwell hotel. Delighted with this discovery, Augusta pretends to find a note under the front-door addressed to Lionel.  It is supposedly a signed note from Sophia who asks him to join her in her suite to say goodbye to him. Having no doubts on the origin of this note, Lionel leaves Augusta for there. Augusta then hastens to phone C.C., whom she arranges to meet at the Capwell hotel. She lets him into the linen room and shows him the famous mirror, C.C. sees Lionel speaking with someone, their back to him, he assumes this person to be the countess Armonti...

Episode 164

As no load is kept against him, Hank leaves the police station without being worried. Warren comes to search Maggie and brings her back in front of her car. At the Capwell hotel, C.C. ends up discovering that the person with Lionel is Sophia. Interpreting wrongly a part of their exchanges, Augusta persuades him that Sophia and Lionel have always followed their link. She pictures the business trips which Lionel took in the past were pretexts to join his mistress in Europe. Augusta succeeds in taking up the head of C.C. which ends up believing in these frenzies. Under the impact, she already sees her marriage and her home life collapsing. Mad with anger, C.C. breaks down the door of presidential suite and is face to face with his wife, back from the dead. Without letting her to have the time to explain, he accuses her of having deceived him for twenty years and announces his intention of being physically taken by Lionel...

Episode 165

Warren tries to follow Maggie to her home, but she surprises him and asks him not to interfere in her private life. He accepts her invitation however not before  a last drink in State Street bar later at a party. Augusta gets Laken up to date on what she believes she has discovered concerning Sophia and Lionel. Sophia calls the Lockridge place and Laken answers, whom she asks her to tell Lionel that C.C. is on his way there. For his part, C.C. is under the impact to discover that not only his children, but also Gina, knew that Sophia was alive. Sophia goes to the Capwell residence and finds Rosa, whom she thanks for having taken care of her children since her disappearance. They together recall Brandon, which they both can call their common grandson. Ted arrives who, after the revelations of his father, does not succeed in believing his mother when she swears her to maintain no more links with Lionel. C.C. arrives at the Lockridge residence armed with a whip. Augusta, who has lost any confidence in Lionel, leaves him in close touch with C.C., who begins by destroying vases and lamps of the living room. He is interrupted by Mason's arrival, alerted by Sophia. Lionel uses it to escape to the cellar. C.C. is still chasing, but Lionel is untraceable, mysteriously disappeared...

Episode 166

C.C. arrives at the Lockridge's cellar to find Lionel. Minx, alerted by the noise, discovers C.C. and tries to make him leave. By accident, she puts him on the track of a secret door which opens the access to the tunnel between the Lockridge and Capwell residences. C.C. gets involved indoors. Ted, on the telephone with Laken, learns the existence of the tunnel and announces it to Eden and Cruz. Sophia, who hears his statements, hastens to join Lionel. She opens a secret passage in the library of C.C.'s office and enters the tunnel. She finds Lionel there and informs him that C.C. is angry. She tries to decelerate C.C. in his progress by trying to clear herself of her link with Lionel. But C.C. wants to hear only, still persuaded with this relationship continued for years. Ted finds Laken in the garage of the Lockridge residence. He tries to get back to her, asking her to put aside the conflict of their parents. Laken tells him that she is unable and escapes Ted. Eden and Cruz succeed, through inadvertence, in finding the entrance to the tunnel in the office of C.C.. Sophia announces that C.C. is roaming the tunnel.  He then succeeds in finding Lionel's trace. In the tunnel, C.C. and Lionel begin fighting...

Episode 167

While Mason begins throwing bets on the identity of the survivor of the fight, C.C. reappears in the office. In the Lockridge residence, it is the same relief when Augusta and her children see Lionel getting out of the tunnel safe and sound. It is in blows of words that both men principally fought. Lionel confessed to C.C. that he was jealous of him at the time of his marriage with Sophia, while C.C. left him the safe, magnanimous life, making him nonetheless the loser of the clash. Augusta, a desperate person about the future of her marriage, prepared Lionel's suitcase and asks him to leave.  At the State Street bar, Mason meets his old secretary Sarah, to whom he offers to return to work as his helper. Sarah refuses, obviously warned by C.C.. Mason then finds the prostitute who had stolen some money and his watch from him. He begins threatening her when her pimp and goons arrive, who quickly gain the upper hand. Unable to even pay for a drink, Mason asks Ted to lend him some money. While she goes to the State Street bar to do some thinking, Augusta stumbles on Sophia and is happy to tell everyone about her hate for her. Sophia makes her understand that it is unhealthy jealousy and it - only consumes her in misfortune...

Episode 168

Augusta asks Brick not to move in as she envisages him at the Perkins place. Brick refuses and moves in with Amy. On his yacht where he has taken up residence, Lionel accepts the visit of an old Chinese shop owner who brings him the object: a perfect copy of the Chinese puzzle fabricated by his ancestor. But when Mason arrives to claim it, Lionel does not know anymore which one is the copy and which is the genuine one and delays giving it to him haphazardly. Mason breaks the box then in pieces with the aid of a hammer and finds inside a small stone of value of which he is unaware. Cruz is in bed with Eden when his mother surprises him with a visit. Cruz offers Eden to come to have lunch with them at his boathouse. But Carmen, the mother of Cruz, proves to be so distrustful and unpleasant with Eden about her status and her privileged origins as Eden leaves the table. Cruz finds her at the Capwell hotel where she works on her plan of restaurant. In the lift, he entrusts her with his love and asks her to marry him if she feels the same way...

James Hong, who interprets Dave Cheng the Chinese jeweller, will come back in episode 843 to play another character, Harry Yamada, also an acquaintance of Lionel's.

Episode 169

Eden turns Cruz's proposal into a game. Cruz does not cease however all day long to try to find out her opinion on this question. On the beach, Eden ends up saying to him that if he likes him, she therefore does not plan to marry him. Cruz leaves, leaving Eden by herself tapping her foot on the rocks. She hurts herself then, unable to stand on her foot.  Marcello, who followed the couple from a distance all day long, makes his appearance suddenly. On the pretext of helping Eden to escape pain, he hypnotises her and asks her to give him one of the war medals from her father for his trouble. Back in the Capwell residence, Eden gets the medal from C.C.'s office. C.C., as for him, he meets Carmen at the Capwell hotel. He invites her for a drink at home. Both have come of course to speak about the relationship between Eden and Cruz, concluding that they should not be together.  Amy gets a job interview for the lawyer Stanfield Lee. She is easily engaged, in a low wage level. But it proves to be that this Mr. Lee, who moreover knows C.C., is the man who draws reins behind Dr Renfro. By waiting for Amy, Brick bets on Big Amy (a horse) with a friend. This horse earns the running, allowing Brick to win a pretty sum. For her part, Jackie accepts the visit of an officer of Navy who brings her a telegram. She does not dare to open it, persuaded that something has happened to Larry. Ted, who comes to visit her, has agreed to read it. Jackie is relieved when she reads that Larry in fact has received permission to leave...

It will be necessary to wait for episode 195 before seeing Carmen Castillo again.
Eden and Cruz watch at the theater the French film Tirez sur le Pianiste by François Truffaut, with Charles Aznavour. We recognize the dialogues, the film being broadcast in original French version, to Cruz's displeasure !
