The name of Morgan Malone is pronounced during the investigation of the explosion of the Capwell oil rig in 1982; because according to the present employees, he was there, with Benjamin Gillis, the day of the explosion. Physically, Morgan appears as a force of nature. Tall, muscular, he could represent the stereotype of manual workers in extreme conditions. Despite his physique, Morgan was psychologically very touched by the explosion. His ex-wife confirms it, Morgan was never the same after the accident. Seriously wounded in the hand, he became a man always angry : he resented the whole Earth. Moody, he could not stand anyone anymore, refusing to go out and hating to stay at home. Pushed to the limit by his wife, he had to make a radical decision. One day, he took all his belongings and left the matrimonial home. Morgan wanted to become another... He changed his name and left the city of Santa Barbara, cutting off the link with a past he hated. This is the man that Warren Lockridge meets at the Gillis home. A man with hypersensitive rage and anger. Yet the reality is quite different. Morgan seeks to flee only himself and his own shame. Pushed to the limit by Warren's questions, he is forced to lift the veil on the drama that eats him away from the inside. Friend of Ben Gillis, he did not hesitate to betray him, letting himself be bought by the Capwells. For thousands of dollars, he sold his soul by claiming that the safety instructions were respected and sufficient, officiating the absence of responsibility of Capwell Enterprises. His wound hand, which he hides under a black glove, is nothing compared to this other invisible wound. Touched by Warren's words, Morgan agrees to help him and to testify in front of C.C. Capwell, moved by the destiny of his friend Ben. The face to face with C.C. Capwell allows Morgan to redeem and to rehabilitate himself in the eyes of Ben. He gives back the briefcase with all the money he received for his silence in 1982. And the man who leaves the Capwell Villa is no longer the same : he laid down his burden, freed his mind of his guilt, certainly relieved to have been able to respect the friendship between Ben and him.
