Year end review : what happened in 1984 ?

For one thing, we learned that having a double - twin or otherwise - has very stylish. Diseases heretofore unknown were raging in epidemic proportions. Haunted houses and ghosts descended on Springfield and Llanview while mafia chiefs and cartels (did you ever hear of so many cartels ?) were invading small town America in droves, in short, the trend of spies, mysteries and dubious identities continued with rocket-life force in 1984. Nicolas Coster left One Life to Live and turned up as Santa Barbara's most outrageous male, Lionel. Marcy Walker headed west, too. Leaving All My Children's Liza behind she started a new character : Eden on Santa Barbara. (...)

And finally, 1984 brought us Santa Barbara. The much-heralded show takes us to Reagan country - a land filled witch rich folks and working class Mexican Americans. Unlike Texas, Santa Barbara chose to take advantage of its mixed ethnicity and boasts a Mexican-American family. Santa Barbara has the toughest time slot on daytime opposite General Hospital and Guiding Light, and already there have been a few changes. But the story seems rich in potential and with some fine cast members we expect good things from this show.
