Last 15 January, the American public could follow, not without emotion, the last episode of Santa Barbara : the 2137th one ! A few days earlier, the majority of the actors had reunited in one of the NBC studios of Los Angeles for a wrap party. "We are not here, this evening, to cry the end of Santa Barbara, but to celebrate eight years and a half of great joys and marvellous adventures", was to declare Nancy Grahn (in the show Julia Wainwright).

More than eight years already ! It is indeed on July 30, 1984 that was born the show which was going to fill with enthusiasm millions of televiewers in the world. And that as far as China ! In France, we have discovered it fourteen months later, from October 14, 1985. It was immediately an enormous success.

Does the stop of the show in the United States let predict the nearest end of Santa Barbara in France ? Not at all. The duration of the American episodes being sixty minutes, it does not remain less than 1200 episodes to air. The channel TF1 has right now bought the rights of airing for the two next years.
