Simplicity, charm, fascinated by the beauty of the city and its surroundings, and by the atmosphere you breathe. Jed Allan is in Rome these days, and it's like a dream. "I've been hoping to come here for years since I was a child, and now that I'm here, I wouldn't want to leave. If I could, I would live here forever." But work will soon call him back to America. Life must go on and new roles await the actor, now that he has finished his commitments in Santa Barbara. And it's about this soap that in Italy we still watch, that we want to talk with Jed, who plays the character of C.C. Capwell.
Jed Allan, who has played the part of C.C. since 1986, was born on March 1st... and like many stars does not want to reveal his year of birth. Married for 33 years to Toby, an interior designer, he had 3 sons : Dean (28 years old) a lawyer, Rick (30 years old) a film producer and Mitch (26 years old) the only one who followed his father's footsteps, devoting himself to acting. Before working in Santa Barbara, Jed performed in theater in Broadway and appeared in 5 films : The Cliff, Brenda Starr, The Man From Clover Grove, Fast Friends and Married : The First Year. The actor was also part of the cast of Days of Our Lives for 12 years. His favorite actors are John Forsythe and Ernest Borgnine. Jed can now devote hours to his other passion, jazz.
"In Santa Barbara you married three women : Pamela, Gina and Sophia. Which of the three do you prefer and which one would you have married if you had met them in real life ?" We asked the actor first. "For charity" he replies in Italian, wanting to emphasize that he has already learned a few words of our language. "None of the 3. I need to live with a woman of spirit and none of them have it. I married Toby, simply because she has a lot of."
Italian viewers will soon meet Greg, the child born from an affair with Megan Richardson. What type of son is he ?
I'm sorry, but I don't remember. He made a too brief appearance.
What do you think of your Santa Barbara rivalry with Lionel Lockridge ?
Lionel is an actor who is a lot like me. As an individual, outside of filming, Nicolas Coster is a very pleasant man. I find that his character, however, is not placed on the same level than C.C. Capwell.
Do you find that your own personality is similar to that of the character you play in Santa Barbara ?
Jed is almost indignant : Even from a distance, they are not similar, he replies. C.C is an irritating guy. He always claims to be right. This is often true, but he is a man who is too intransigent towards others. Fortunately, I'm not like that.
In Santa Barbara, you took the place of Charles Bateman. What can you tell us about this actor ?
Charly, in daily life, is a close and faithful friend. You have no idea how connected we are. We have known each other for many years. When he heard the news, and that he hadn't been called to tell him I would replace him, he was very sorry : it was really negligence on the part of the producers.
In this soap, C.C. seems to particularly prefer his daughter Eden. What is your relationship with Marcy Walker actually like ?
Eden, in fact Marcy, is the daughter that every father would like to have, and that's what I think too. We are linked by a sincere friendship.
One last question, Jed : Do you still meet any colleagues since you left Santa Barbara ?
Certainly. I often met A Martinez with his wife Leslie. Judith McConnell calls me often and from time to time we see each other. We just made a group of friends with the Santa Barbara team, Jed concludes.
