It is in March 1989 that we get acquainted with the second high school of Santa Barbara, Crestview high school. Contrary to Lyman high school that frequented Ted Capwell or Laken Lockridge, Crestview high school is a popular establishment, situated in an underprivileged district. Laura Asher is named as a principal, a little time after her arrival in Santa Barbara. She works there under Mr. Wade's orders.
Crestview
high school is at first made of a big hall where circulate the pupils from a
room to the other one between the class. We also find there lockers intended to
keep their belongings. We also know its classrooms, among which that of Miss
Burrell, a professor who has a great deal of difficulty in being respected by
her pupils.
As a principal, Laura has obviously her own office. On each side of her front door, black and white photos under glass call back the hours of glory of this high school fallen in decline.
To encourage the pupils to get involved within the establishment, Laura launches the realization of a big fresco on the wall just before arriving at her office, into the hall. Many pupils, as Tomas or Missy Fortino, come to participate in its realization. Laura also convinces the young hooligan Jamie Ortega to join it, in exchange for erasing the complaint deposited against him for aggression. Among the other high school pupils, we can name Bone Peterson and Thruster, two young people more interested in surfing and girls than by the class.
We can note that Crestview high school also accommodates in the evening the meetings of the Alcoholics Anonymous, to which go Lisa DiNapoli and Mason Capwell.
