The Walker family is a new family who returns to Santa Barbara, after years spent in Miami. The role of this family is to pay tribute and to supply for the couple Eden and Cruz : Reese is a new Cruz, as for Jodie, she is his first big love, as free and independent as could be Eden Capwell.

The Walker family also has the distinctive characteristic to revive the first years of the show : it is a family of modest origin which is reminiscent of the Perkins et the Andrade families. Moreover, quite as in these previous families, the place of the chieftain is mainly occupied by a woman; the similarities between Jodie and Marisa are sometimes obvious in the choice of the decisions to take.

Working both in the police forces, Jodie and Reese so can, quite as Cruz Castillo at the appropriate time, penetrate into the everyday life of all the characters and create more privileged links with the lawyer Julia Capwell, the district attorney, and every potential victims (as it was the case with the couple Eden and Cruz). Indirectly, due to these connections, they will the one as the other become an important axis of most of the storylines.

The Walker family also revives the first years due to the age bracket of the children : B.J. and Sawyer unmistakably remind Laken, Jade, Danny and Ted who in their time knew lighter adventures and especially full of humor. B.J. and Sawyer will not know however this breath of lightness, because their adventures will be of the most dramatic.

In the end, Jodie and Reese were not able to find a place in Santa Barbara, mainly because it was never possible to them to get out of the tracks left by Eden and Cruz.
