Paul is jealous that Alice tells him all times she spent with Brian. Alice has a new crisis of panic by remembering the same policeman who haunts her nightmare, and who this time goes up much too close to her. Caroline explains to Lionel now that Ollie died, she feels responsible for Alice's future. They kiss each other, while Jane cries after spying on them. Pearl discovers that Courtney followed him to the Big Sur. Courtney sees Brian at the bookshop speaking with Sybil Jordan. Sybil informs him that Pearl is on his trace. Not wanting to see his brother again, Brian decides to leave. Courtney finds him in the bar on the corner and starts talking with him. Gina wakes up, lying between two chairs in the atrium. She discovers that C.C. left the room, and guesses that he joined Sophia in the guest house. To surprise them together, she calls the police, using an excuse that a burglar is in the home. But when Paul arrives, he finds nobody. Sophia and C.C. had the time to hide in the garden to kiss each other. Gina goes back to the villa, and finds C.C. in his bed, near the window of his room. C.C. rejects her in the corridor, where Gina stays alone...
In the early hours, Courtney finds Brian in the bar and follows him into the toilets when she sees his brother arriving. Pearl gives Sybil a letter intended for Brian. Courtney grabs it and finds Brian in the chalet where he took refuge. She shows him the letter. Caroline hires a private detective to find Alice's father. Jane, who is jealous of her mother and of her relationship with Lionel, dresses up as Roxanne. She goes to the Orient Express and sits with an unknown person. Abandoned by C.C., Gina goes to Keith's flat and becomes established in his bed. Keith tries to reason with her, fearing that an affair could cost her the marriage. Gina goes back to the Capwell villa. Victoria admits in front of Cruz that she called Eden when she was in his arms. Cruz asks her to tell Eden the truth. The three meet in the Orient Express, but Victoria changes her mind and tells Eden that Cruz and her made love together because he felt abandoned and that they wanted it. Eden, very uneasy, asks Cruz to leave her alone. Keith comes to her rescue and offers her a means to comfort her...

Caroline and Lionel wake up in the early hours having spent the night together on the Lockridge yacht. The man who accosted Jane and who accompanied her on the beach proves to be a policeman. He arrests her for soliciting. Jane phones Alice to pay her bail. On her return to the Lockridge villa, Jane criticises her mother for leading her to act like that. Caroline tries hard to avoid a new dispute. Courtney and Brian play a dangerous game: Courtney takes the case of her sister's death, who she does not name, to let Brian guess who the murderer is. He moves aside all potential suspects to head for a culprit of which nobody had thought of. Mason represents his case to Julia to become the father of her baby. After reflexion, Julia accepts on the condition of establishing a contract in due form. By playing intimate friends, Keith succeeds in learning from Eden that Victoria was on the beach when Katie drowned. Mason goes to Cruz's place to recover Eden's belongings. Victoria packs her suitcase; she has decided to go back to Los Angeles that evening. She meets Eden in the Orient Express and begins telling her the truth about what happened in the light house. But Eden refuses to listen to her. Keith finds Victoria at home with the earring found on the sand. At dark, he drives her to the beach and assaults her. He makes her fall on the sand and accuses her of having wanted Katie to die...
Mason brings Julia the contract which he wrote to become the father of her baby. Julia signs it without reading it, and agrees to join him in a room of the Capwell Hotel. In spite of the romantic ambience which Mason created, Julia feels uncomfortable and leaves. Locked in Brian's chalet because of the snowstorm, Courtney decides to sleep there. She is of benefit that Brian falls asleep after reading the first pages of his book. Brian wakes up and surprises her. He tells her that he knows who she is. Gina invites Lily to become established in the Capwell residence. She begins feeling guilty to leave distant Kelly, and to see C.C. separated from Sophia. She finds C.C. in his room and announces her need to feel loved. She switches off the light and undresses. When she relights it, it is Mason who is facing her. They kiss each other, but Gina understands that Mason is only trying to make her lose C.C.'s money. She pushes him back and stays alone in the room. On the beach, Keith continues harassing Victoria violently. She admits having watched Katie drowning without intervening. She then tells Cruz and asks him to defend her in case Keith would take proceedings against her. But she understands that Cruz also thinks that she wanted Katie to die. Eden supposes that it was Cruz who told Keith the whole truth on Katie's death. She then asks Keith, now that he knows the truth, to make peace with Victoria...
Brian repeats to Courtney that he does not intend to see his brother again. Courtney goes back to Santa Barbara. Julia and Mason meet in a seedy hotel room and sleep together. Gina organises a big dinner for Thanksgiving in the atrium. But the Capwells all disappear. Danny finds his mother and asks her to lend him some money. Alice goes to the Capwells to see Courtney, and finds a letter written by Brian. She goes to Big Sur, in Brian's regular bar. He hides in the toilets. But Alice points out Perceval, Brian's dog, and finds his address written on his chain. Jane announces to her mother that she is not staying at the Lockridge place for Thanksgiving. She goes to the Orient Express and searches for the first man she sees. She then goes back with him to Lionel's place, and introduces him as an old friend. In front of Caroline's distress, Lionel shows the man the door and orders Jane not to act this way under his roof. Caroline thinks that Lionel deserves better and ends their relationship. Gina sits down at the table with Lily and Brandon. C.C., Eden, Mason, Ted and Hayley join Sophia in the guest house to have dinner as a family. But uneasy in front of all criticisms and mockery about Gina, Hayley leaves to find her aunt. It does not prevent the Capwells from spending a good evening together...

Mason asks Julia to ensure that his future baby knows who his father is. Julia agrees to it. They go to a chalet to make love once again. Keith announces to Cruz that he does not intend to lodge complaint against Victoria for Katie's death. Cruz announces the news to her. Courtney confesses to Pearl that she found pictures of him and Brian in Big Sur. Alice finds Brian's chalet and waits for him to return. Brian thinks she is sleeping on his sofa. They squeeze up in the arms of one another, happy to meet. Alice tries to persuade Brian that his brother is a good man, and that he could save him from the labels of Dr Rawlings. At Pearl's arrival, Brian escapes by the window and disappears by car. Santana discovers that Eden moved back into the Capwell villa. She finds wandering Danny and under the influence of drugs. She drives him to the police station so that Cruz helps to reason with him. Eden returns her key from the beach home to Cruz. Confused, Cruz is taken to a juvenile delinquent questioned in the office. At dark, Mason goes up on the roof of the Capwell Hotel and finds Victoria in full reflexion in front of the "C" sign. He screams with fear...

Julia informs Cruz that the delinquent whom he manhandled wants to lodge a complaint for police brutality. Victoria and Mason become acquainted on the roof of the Capwell Hotel. Victoria receives an offer from her agent for a role in Hollywood. But she decides to stay in Santa Barbara. Julia suggests to Mason to try again so that she is sure of getting pregnant. She is embarrassed to see him sitting at the table in the Orient Express with Victoria. Bearing a grudge to avoid Pearl, Brian has a car accident on the snowy road. Pearl helps him to get out of his vehicle and brings him first aid. But Brian refuses for his brother to touch him. Jane intercepts the file which the private detective hired by Caroline comes to give her. She has no time to read it before her mother sees her. Caroline reads documents relating to Alice's father, arrested to have pulled a firearm on a policeman. Santana discovers that Danny is in business with Angel. Angel demands that he reimburses his debts before the night ends, at midnight. Cruz tries to reason with Danny to stop the cocaine, and would like for him at the same time to finally put Angel out of harm. Cruz is called to the armed robbery scene in a grocery store. He enters the shop and fires at the thief...
Cruz wounds by a gunshot the thief covered with a balaclava. He kneels by his side and discovers that it is Danny. His weapon proves to be a plastic weapon. Danny is driven to the hospital, where Rosa and Santana quickly arrive. Santana criticises Cruz for having tried to punish Danny from the beginning. The shack in which Pearl and Brian took refuge in collapses because of the snow. Pearl is hurt. Brian takes care of him and manages to clear them an exit. Both brothers succeed in finally getting closer. Angel phones Gina and sends for her in the Orient Express. She calls Cruz and informs him about the place where he can find Angel. Cruz goes there, but Mason intervenes and, as a prosecutor, demands to question Angel alone. He makes him take the lift to leave the building, but Angel uses this to stun him with a bottle. Cruz finds Mason in a half conscious state in the lift. Angel has disappeared...
Pearl relies on Brian's bed, after a visit from the doctor. Alice and Courtney do not understand why Brian still refuses to speak to him. On his waking, Pearl stresses to his brother the fact that he has completely changed since their youth in Boston and that he is not the same anymore. But Brian is not interested. Angel goes in the Capwell residence and claims the money from Gina which she had promised him in exchange for her lies during the affair of Santana's pills. Gina locks herself and Hayley with him in C.C.'s office. She hides Angel in the tunnel, behind the library, so that Ted does not find him. Mason offers Victoria to take some time out from her difficulties at the convent in Monterey where Mary had left. He accompanies her there and introduces her to Mother Isabel who provides her with hospitality. Victoria sees Mason on the fresco of the chapel and Mason speaks about Mary. Hayley accompanies Ted to the hospital to see Danny. Ted does not understand how his old friend could arrive there. Hayley discovers that it is Angel who Danny owed some money to. She informs Ted that Angel is hidden in the tunnel. Sprightly Ted and Cruz go to search for Angel behind the library. But Angel manages to escape by the window of C.C.'s office. Cruz launches his chase up to the power station. He puts Angel to his knees and gets ready to pull his revolver on him...

It is Alice's birthday. Jane and Lionel organise a small party in the Lockridge residence. Caroline goes to the prison in Chino to visit Gus, Alice's father. He tells her about the events which led him to be incarcerated having pulled a weapon on a policeman who threatened Alice, as well as the committal of his daughter. Caroline leaves the prison and her purse falls out of her bag. A security guard phones Lionel to inform them. Lionel questions Caroline about her visit and discovers that she is lying to him about the place where she was. Hayley and Ted talk about their feelings and still do not manage to confess and to accept their forced marriage. Mason leaves Victoria at the convent and leaves again by car, thinking of the common points between her and Mary. In the power station, Eden arrives just in time to stop Cruz, at the end of his nerves, pulling his weapon on Angel. Back-up arrives and Angel is arrested. Cruz asks his superior for long-term leave. Eden wants them to work things out, and agrees to excuse his relationship with Victoria. But Cruz is not ready and leaves Eden alone...
