Episode 280

Facing an unsteady C.C., Lionel denies having continued his relationship with Sophia these last years. C.C. suddenly takes out a revolver and threatens to kill Lionel, with Sophia's help. Gina, Eden and Cruz also rush to see C.C. collapsing on the floor, unable to move. He asks Eden not to be driven to the hospital. Resting in the atrium of the Capwell residence, C.C. explains to Eden that he is rejecting Sophia, having discovered that Channing Junior is Lionel's son. Mary confronts Steve, who implicitly admits having raped Christie. But he seems not to understand the measure of his act. As Mary threatens to report him to the police, he ties her up and gags her. Cruz phones Mary, but she does not manage to make herself heard. Ted calls Steve to inform him that he found Christie safe and sound. Steve guesses where she is and leaves to find her trace in the family home. Ted tries to make her forget his bloody desires of personal revenge. C.C. asks Gina to bring documents in his office back to him. As he does not see her coming back, he crawls along up to the room and tries barely to sign his New Testament and divorce papers. Gina tries to prevent him from it by moving them aside. Weakened, C.C. loses his balance suddenly and collapses to the floor, unconscious...

Episode 281

Gina recovers the testament and the divorce papers and hides them behind books in the library. When she hears Eden and Sophia arrive, she calls for help to attract them towards the office where C.C. is lying on the floor, unconscious. Lionel, who has come to find out why C.C. tried to kill him, helps them to revive him with a cardiac massage. Help arrives and takes C.C. to the hospital. Sophia prevents Gina and Mason from revealing to Lionel that he is the father of Channing Junior. Mason goes into C.C.'s room and proves to be full of emotion to see him close to death, kept alive by machines. Cruz goes to Mary's house and thinks she is tied up and gagged. Being released, she reveals to him that Steve is Christie's rapist and that he is on her track to their old home in Ventura. She phones Christie, who suddenly comes face to face with Steve. Alerted by her silence on the telephone, Cruz asks the local police to intervene and goes there with Mary. Steve threatens Christie with retaliation. Christie manages to get a weapon from her stepfather. Ted, who had gone away, goes back to the home and finds Christie holding Steve. He enters and, surprised, Christie presses on the tumbler and pulls the trigger on Steve...

Episode 282

Steve takes some breaths and dies, hit by a bullet in the back drawn by Christie, while he turned around towards Ted. Christie panics at the idea of going to prison because she cannot prove that she has acted in self-defence as she pulled on Steve while he turned his back. Stunned, Ted offers to lie to the police, by saying that Steve checked a weapon off on him and that she pulled it to protect him. The police arrive and take Christie for a cross-examination. Mary tells her mother that it is Steve who raped Christie. Cruz sees Ted out back to Santa Barbara to his father. In the hospital, Gina is delighted to tell Lionel that he is Channing Junior's father. Lionel is shocked and tries to seek an explanation from Sophia. Laken makes him become aware that he is also a grandfather, since Channing Junior is Brandon's father. Ted arrives and lies to Laken by telling her that Christie killed Steve to save his life. Sophia alerts Kelly, who also runs up to the hospital with Nick. At Cruz's surprise, Eden seems to have decided to quickly take the reins of the Capwell Firms in the absence of her father...

Episode 283

Kelly has an appointment with an editor. Nick helps her to get ready. Lionel acquaints himself with Santana, the mother of his new grandson. Augusta is worried about the place which Brandon is going to take in Lionel's life and in hers. She goes to the Capwell residence and meets Santana. She encourages him to do everything to recover Brandon, suggesting even taking him out from Gina's hands by escaping with him. Jack phones someone in Washington and asks him to organise a mission which would drive Cruz out of Santa Barbara. He intends to use it to play his influence on Eden, now that she is going to hold the reins of the Capwell Firms. The district attorney Tony Patterson goes to Cruz and asks him to go in the daytime - even, to Mississippi to accompany a prisoner. Cruz proves to be uncompromising and refuses the mission. Jack is immediately informed that Cruz is going to stay in Santa Barbara...

Episode 284

Eden becomes aware that even if the state of her father became stable, he could stay in a lifelong coma. She remembers the promise that she made him not to keep him living artificially. Needing to take back her confidence, she asks Cruz to give her a child to give C.C. a grandson. Gina decides to find a new hiding-place for the divorce papers and the New Testament belonging to C.C.. She slips them into one of the stone pillars of the atrium, in the course of the renovation. Theda apologises to Christie for not noticing Steve's activities during all these years. The assistant of the district attorney responsible for the affair of Steve's death announces her doubts to Cruz as for the circumstances of the death. She sends for Ted to go to the police station to question him. Ted, assisted by Jack, his lawyer, tells the facts again by accusing Steve of having tried to kill him. But the assistant of the district attorney is persuaded that Ted lies to her: she does not imagine that Steve could turn his back to Christie to threaten Ted with his weapon, while he has already been under the threat of Christie's weapon. Laken has a feeling that Ted is lying to her. She helps him speak to Christie by sending for her in the Capwell residence by means of the tunnel. Ted repeats to Christie what he said during his cross-examination, so that she introduces the same version...

Episode 285

Jack Lee's associate comes into the Capwell residence to take control of the situation with C.C.'s papers: as he didn't sign any of the documents which he made before the coma, Gina remains his wife and becomes the administrator of the Capwell Firms. Brandon also remains his heir. Lionel confronts his mother about his newly discovered fatherhood. Minx asks him to remain distant from Brandon, maintaining that it means nothing for the Lockridges. He knows that Augusta searched his room, but reassures himself that it does not bare all his secrets. Lionel conspires with Santana to manage to meet Brandon finally at the Capwells, in spite of Gina's ban. Laken asks Ted to choose between the secret that he keeps with Christie and her. Christie is questioned in her turn by the assistant of the district attorney. She accuses her straightaway of having acted with premeditation to get rid of Steve. Eden learns by telephone that Jack cannot deal with her anymore, because of the reminder of the President Reagan of him. She announces to her mother that Cruz and she have decided to have a child...

Episode 286

Lionel spends a very nice afternoon playing in the Capwell residence with Brandon. He persuades Rosa of the sincerity of his attachment for the child. Gina and Augusta discover him, but Lionel manages to cajole Gina and gains permission to be able to return to see Brandon. Augusta offers Santana to help her to recover her son. She confesses to Lionel that she is panicked at the idea that Sophia and he share the same grandson. Christie continues answering the questions of Felicia Dalton, the assistant of the district attorney. Even if she repeats the same story as Ted, Felicia is persuaded that she is lying to her. Cruz asks Eden to question her brother on his sincerity. Ted arranges to meet Christie in the Orient Express. Christie thinks she has missed her cross-examination. Eden asks Ted if he is telling the whole truth concerning the death of Steve. Ted assures her that it is the case. Eden entrusts Cruz that she has the feeling that Ted is covering for Christie. But she asks him not to follow the inquiry on this subject...

Episode 287

C.C. is placed in the Capwell residence, still in a coma and linked up with machines which keep him alive. Sophia is surprised to see his suitcases fastened out of the guest house. She guesses with Eden that it is Gina who showed her the door. She informs her that she has so many rights as her concerning Brandon, being his biological grandmother, and that Gina also is threatened to be removed from the villa when C.C. will wake up from the coma. She gains permission to stay there. Brick organises a big party for the arrival of Amy and Johnny to Santa Barbara. But Amy gets in earlier that envisaged. He tries to persuade her to stay definitely in California. Cruz is jealous of the time which Eden spends with Jack Lee's associate. He is contacted by Nick who announces his plan to perform some missions as a private detective. Contacted by Augusta to investigate Brick, Cruz thinks immediately of Nick. Nick is allowed to be persuaded by Kelly to participate in the photo book. A mysterious woman with long fine legs seems to follow Nick throughout the day...

Episode 288

Brick makes a big declaration of love to Amy and discusses marriage again to persuade her to stay in Santa Barbara. Augusta phones Nick and arranges to meet him in an alleyway near the Capwell Hotel. She asks him to investigate the links between Brick and the Lockridge family. Nick accepts the mission. Augusta however gets worried when she discovers in the Orient Express that Nick is Kelly's friend. Thanks to the advance received from Augusta, Nick writes a cheque to finance studies of medicine for his brother who lives in Dominican Republic and whom he has not seen for four years. At Augusta's request, Julia meets Santana to envisage lawful solutions so that she gets the rights to Brandon. But the chances are very slim. The woman who followed Nick uses his absence to enter his flat. She puts music on, takes a shower, gets changed, and leaves again before the return of Kelly and Nick. She takes the envelope with the cheque which Nick intended for his brother with her. At his home, Nick finds the tape which she listened to and a wet towel. The blonde young woman proves to know Dylan, Nick's brother...

Episode 289

Ted accompanies Mary who has come to propose an opportunity as a new nurse at C.C.'s home. Gina, at first quiet, decides to engage her and to lodge her in Mason's old room. Because of the storm, a power cut happens suddenly and the machines keeping C.C. alive stop. Mary manages to start them again in the dark, to the relief of Eden and of Gina. Mason phones the Capwell residence and gets Mary. He asks her to discreetly bring him some business in the gazebo on the property. But Gina surprises Mary with Mason's briefcase in her hand. Cruz organises a re-enactment of Steve's death in the home in Ventura. The way Steve would have dropped, according to Christie and Ted, with the gun does not hold. Cruz gives them a last chance to tell the truth before he goes back to see the district attorney. But Christie and Ted are held in their version. Laken asks to stay with Ted to try to reason with him. She asks him to forget her promise to Christie and to think first of all of avoiding having to go to prison. But Ted refuses to listen to her. Laken announces to him that everything is finished between them and leaves the home, leaving Ted behind her...
