Episode 170

Eden, by holding the medal from her father in her hand, suddenly remembers the session of hypnosis with Marcello. To unmask him, she calls him and asks him to join her in the Capwell residence. Amy and Brick go back to the office of Stanfield Lee. The telephone rings and as the helper of Mr. Lee is not there, Amy answers it. She is surprised to hear Dr Renfro, himself who is also surprised at discovering that she now works for the famous lawyer. Jackie and Ted go to State Street bar for some dancing and drinks. They find Mason there, who gets Ted to pay for him. Mason is of the benefit to meet Brick there to offer him his services as a lawyer for the management of the Lockridge property. But Brick rejects his proposal. Back at home, Amy and Brick discover Jeff's envelope, which is an analysis supposed to prove that he is very sterile.  Eden and Cruz explore the tunnel between the Capwell and Lockridge residences. They make love there. Eden then recollects her first hypnosis session orchestrated by Marcello, when in Monte-Carlo where she had a falling out with her mother. When Marcello arrives, she delays giving him the war medal from her father which he had claimed. Marcello, using the state of Eden, then asks her to give him all documents relating to World War II which she will be able to find in the business of C.C.. But Eden does not fall for this, in fact, she is very aware of Marcello's dishonest activities...

Episode 171

Mason is reached by the lawyer of Peter to become his enforcer of the will. Peter leaves some money to Kelly, but his movable property remains to be managed by Mason. Mason with Cruz conducts the inventory of Peter's flat. Feeling in his ease there, he decides to stay there, not having clean accommodation anymore. By turning a drawer, Cruz discovers a key. Jackie and Ted jog to the bar at the beach. Ted finds Laken there. Once again, Laken repeats that she is waiting for the departure of Sophia far from Santa Barbara. Warren surprises Maggie: he bought back the local newspaper, Santa Barbara Sentinel. Maggie, who proves to be married, then goes to Peter's lawyer and asks him to represent her in a mysterious affair. The lawyer refuses, judging the trial lost beforehand. Cruz goes to the bank, the key found at Peter's being that of a personal chest. Inside this locker, Cruz discovers a passionate letter addressed to Channing Jr, signed by Lindsay Smith. Cruz wonders why this letter was in Peter's possession. At the same time, a gloved hand leaves a pink rose on Peter / Antonio Fiorno's gravestone...

First reappearance of Ginger Jones since episode 73, the face staying hidden for the moment.

Episode 172

The unknown person at Peter's gravestone proves to be Ginger Jones, who is back in Santa Barbara to pay last tribute to him. Ginger offers to hire Mason to defend some of her "daughters" incarcerated for prostitution. Cruz asks Maggie to find the trace of mysterious Lindsay Smith. While a hold-up takes place in State Street bar, Maggie succeeds in negotiating with the criminal and in preventing him from damaging the place. She hopes that Cruz, witness of this event, gives her a chance to go back finally on the beat, but he does nothing. Warren hastens to talk about the information on the first page of the newspaper. He acquaints himself with the old writing team, of a rather worrying average of age. Using the absence of Lionel, Mason enters his yacht and hides the original Chinese puzzle. He sets a meeting with a jeweller through a friend. This friend warns him of the risk of failure of operation, but Mason decides to take the risk. Still in need of money, he asks Ginger if it is possible for her to pay his expert. Maggie informs Cruz that she found the address of Lindsay Smith. Cruz goes to his flat and discovers that it is in fact a man...

First appearance in the series of Lindsay Smith.
From this episode, the State Street bar is renamed the State Street bistro.

Episode 173

While he denies this at first, Lindsay ends up stating that he maintained a homosexual relationship with Channing Jr in the past. At that time he had just broken up with Santana and Lindsay was there to comfort him. Lindsay swears that Channing Jr was his only male lover, until then and even since then he has been seeing women. With Cruz just leaving Lindsay opens a drawer of his office and takes out several letters which he decides to burn. Lionel realises that his original Chinese puzzle disappeared. He goes to Mason and attends the appointment with the expert who is performing an examination. But the operation fails and Mason does not have any more money to even reimburse Ginger's advance. He thinks to ask Kelly for some money, but Kelly is about to leave, under way towards Bermuda to have a rest. C.C. aware of his financial needs, offers him 18 000 dollars which he needs for the information which he has concerning Hank Judson. Mason is ready to accept, but finally changes his mind to saviour his honour. Lionel comes to meet Ted and asks him to help persuade Laken that his link with Sophia has been finished for several years. For her part, Eden goes to Marcello to bring him some documents belonging to her father. Marcello believes he hypnotises her, but he realises in a mirror that, behind his back, Eden did not succumb to his technique...

It will be necessary to wait for episode 187 before seeing Kelly Capwell again.

Episode 174

In the State Street bistro, Mason makes a table and a telephone for his personal office. He accepts Ginger's visit, who wants her money. She agrees to leave it til the end of the day for him to reimburse her. Mason goes to the Capwell residence and asks Gina for 18 000 dollars in exchange for what he will remove from the police file of Hank. Minx calls Sophia and arranges to meet her in State Street bistro. She wants to follow up on a discussion that Lionel started in the tunnel fifteen years earlier. Sophia informs her that she does not have anything to do with him anymore. Amy and Brick call in to see Jeff at his office in San Francisco, but Jeff has not been there for week. They then call his home, but the line is cut. Cruz asks Maggie to pass for the new neighbour of Lindsay to bare his secrets. Very quickly, both meet and it seems that Lindsay is attracted to Maggie. Eden with the advance of jobs in the new restaurant, the Orient express is proud to show Cruz. To such an extent that they make love on the top floor of the Capwell hotel! Marcello then joined Eden to return documents relating to C.C. that she had brought him. Of a menacing tone, he makes her understand that he knows that she faked the hypnosis...

Episode 175

As Frank, the barman of the State Street bistro, must go away immediately, Mason comes to replace him behind the bar. He is soon confronted by Ginger, come to get her 18 000 dollars. Further to the threat of Mason, Gina invents a scenario to get this money from C.C.. But C.C. refuses to give her the loan and Gina informs Mason about it. Mason, fearing for the survival, goes to his father and decides to accept the money that he offered him for the information on Gina's past. Gina tries to interrupt him by telling C.C. on the day of their interrupted marriage, Mason tried to attack her in their room. C.C. lets Mason speak, then rips the cheque he had prepared for him up in front of his eyes. As Mason, by kindness, loaded Gina up as much as he would have been able to, C.C. agrees to excuse her for having hidden the past from him.  Gina, who has just accepted a new threatening call from Hank, told C.C. it was her doctor who phoned to announce that she is pregnant. Ted finds Laken at the high school and tries to get closer to her with difficulty. Marcello tells Eden that if it appears that he is so interested in her father, it is because he envisages a next collaboration between the Capwell and Armonti Enterprises. In State Street bistro, Mason is forced to confess to Ginger and her henchmen that he doesn't have the money that he owes her. Ginger, delighted, then introduces him to a contract urging him, by way of refund, to become her business lawyer...

Episode 176

Lionel discovers that his yacht was put up for sale by Augusta. He has a good time playing with the potential purchasers to attract them aboard, he starts the boat and takes the agent with him on the high seas. Again, he tries to persuade Augusta that she has imagined things on his alleged link with Sophia and that he has always only liked her. Hank publishes in the Santa Barbara Sentinel an announcement intended for C.C.: he arranges an appointment with him in State Street bistro if he wants to know more about it and the past of his fiancée. In spite of Gina's plea, C.C. decides to go to the appointment. Hank then comes to pay a surprised call to Gina and threatens to reveal everything to C.C.. Cruz installs a microphone on Maggie's clothes without her knowing it and listens, in his car, to all of the discussions around her. Further to the uninterrupted advances of Warren, Maggie decides to tell him the truth about her status of a married woman. Lindsay realises from a photo in the Santa Barbara Sentinel of Maggie that she put an end to the hold-up of State Street bistro. He realises she is a policewoman and cancels the dinner in which he had invited her. Maggie uses his absence to enter his home, in search of proof. But Lindsay has not left the building in fact and gets ready to surprise Maggie in his flat...

Episode 177

Maggie is surprised in her search by Lindsay, armed with a gun. When Cruz arrives to rescue, Maggie has already succeeded in disarming him. By searching his flat, Cruz discovers bank statements which show regular transactions from Lindsay to Peter. Lindsay ends up confessing that he blackmailed Channing Jr in their homosexual relationship and that he transferred a part of his recipes to Peter, the true instigator of blackmail. Cruz is surprised while Peter could assassinate a man who was such a source of income for him. He asks a technician of the scientific police to investigate the letter of Peter's admissions. Warren, who finds Hank at the State Street bistro, fights with him and is driven to the police station. He finds Maggie there. Further to her resolutions, she ends up confessing that she is married. She later organises a meeting at home between Warren and her spouse, Ben, her spouse is handicapped, blind, deaf and dumb, further to the explosion of the oil rig where he worked. Eden and Ted learn from C.C. that Gina is pregnant. As planned, C.C. goes to State Street bistro and finds Hank there. But a power failure generated in the whole city very quickly puts an end to their discussion. When going out of the bar, Hank is suddenly dazzled by the headlights of Gina's car which tears along beside him. While he admires with Eden, from the top of the Capwell hotel, the darkness into which the city is plunged in, Cruz accepts a call from his technician. He tells Cruz that the last lines of Peter's letter, those where he confesses to be also the murderer of Channing Jr, were typed by another person...

Episode 178

Bearing a grudge tearing along side Hank with her car, Gina crashes into a wall. Unconscious, she is driven urgently to the hospital. C.C. asks Mason to watch over Brandon in their absence and to reassure him as for the state of his mother. Maggie is called to the hospital to investigate the accident. Warren offers to stay with her spouse until the male nurses come to take the relay. C.C., anxious for Gina, refuses to listen to the information which Hank wants to sell him concerning Gina's past. He tells her doctor that Gina is pregnant. Warren, come to take information on Gina's state for the newspaper, also refuses to listen to the revelations which Hank offers him. Cruz tells Maggie that Peter would not be the murderer of Channing Jr. He goes to the Capwell residence to find Eden and cannot help making a detour by the office where the murder took place. He attracts an improvised re-enactment, taking out his weapon even to mime the gestures of the killer, when Mason arrives...

Episode 179

Mason learns from Eden that Cruz has re-opened the inquiry into the murder of Channing Jr. Thanks to Cruz, Eden gets information on Marcello's past. Of his true forename Grunts, Marcello was born in the Netherlands. On the death of his parents during World War II, he would have been adopted by the count Armonti. Eden also learns that Marcello was in Santa Barbara sixteen years before. She uses an appointment with him to ask why he was in town sixteen years earlier. Marcello by-passes the question by introducing Eden to a study concerning his plan of fusion between the Capwell and Armonti Enterprises. Sophia meets the lawyer of C.C who informs him that his petition for divorce is under way. Mason recommends her to oppose to it and to take him on as her lawyer. Augusta decides to organise a reception in the Lockridge residence. Maggie makes Warren understand that she is nonetheless in love with her husband and that nothing will ever be able to take place between them. But she ends up joining him on Lionel's yacht, looking full of love...
