The call from the rapist was in fact a recording of Cain's voice distorted which Vic Boswell wanted to test on Eden. Cain asks Cruz to sell his car and his home so that he can pay for the services of a lawyer, but Cruz prefers lending him the money. Lydia gets permission from Cruz to interview Cain to show the public his probable innocence. But while she is away from her studio where she writes on her subject, an unknown person takes the video tape of the interview and replaces it with another. Cruz asks Ted to retie his working links with the Major Hamilton to be able to watch him. In the hospital, Arthur Donnelly scolds Victoria for having violated a medical secret. He tries however to persuade Frank Larson, Eliott's father, to go see his son before he dies. For his part, Eliott goes to Father Michael's chapel, scared by what waits for him. Sonny, using an excuse as a working meeting, joins Gina at Johnny's. They know that Augusta is spying on them from a neighbouring table and the lovers begin playing. While they change a tyre on Cain's car, Eden and Cruz discover a bag containing a black balaclava in the wheel arch...
In the room of cross-examination at the police station, Cain, weary of Cruz's accusations, grabs the balaclava and threads it. Eden, who spies on him outside the one-way mirror, panics. Vic Boswell torments Cain in his cell by telling him that the video of his interview was erased. Julia asks for an explanation from Gina about her many meetings with Mason. They come to blows and Gina knocks Julia out. Gina later accepts a new call from Keith, Sonny announces to Julia his desire to be apart up to marriage. Arthur Donnelly succeeds in persuading Frank Larson to go join his son in the chapel. Father and son finally meet and appear to be reconciled. Arthur and Michael think that it is time for them to do the same. In prison, Cain tries to hang himself with a sheet which he tore. He is driven to the hospital. Cruz explains to Vic Boswell that he announced to the press that Cain had been released so that the rapist could again appear. The evening arrives; the rapist enters Cain's hospital room, then with Cain asleep, calls Cruz and Eden at their home...
Cruz scolds Vic Boswell for keeping Cain in his hospital bed, especially since he thinks he is able to prove his innocence with the phone call which he accepted. But Boswell learns that the call was made from Cain's room and refuses. Cruz calls a team of experts to search the room for an intruder. Once again Sonny and Michael argue about marriage, Michael accusing him for not loving Julia. But he insists to Michael that he celebrates their union. In the evening at the beach bar, Augusta is acquainted with Zack then T.J.. T.J. offers her to continue the party with him and be driven to Pop's Place. Augusta is surprised to see C.C. and Sophia, disguised there to lead their investigation. In the chapel, Michael accepts the rapist for the second time in the confessional. He confesses to have women obsessional problems. Gina, while she kisses Sonny on the sofa of the living room, is surprised in the middle of the night to see off-loading Bunny dressed up as a woman. Eden decides to undergo an amniocentesis having seen Cruz losing his temper when Boswell suggested that his baby could be the child of the rapist. She announces her resolution to Cruz...

Whilst investigating in the personnel's staff room of the hospital, Cruz discovers by the window a trace not outside. Victoria tells him that she saw Dr Zack Kelton's locker opened the day before, when the rapist entered Cain's room. When discussing this with Cruz, Zack points out that one of the overalls disappeared from his locker. Leading to no progress with Cain, Heather thinks of abandoning her study. Michael again accepts the rapist in his confessional. Not being able to see him before leaving, he asks another parishioner, Mrs O' Brien, if she saw his face. This cross-examination leads her to complain to the bishop. Decided to act alone, Michael raises footprints from the chair where the rapist sat down. Bunny is worried why Augusta is so interested in the state of the floor of his bedroom. By searching a cupboard, Augusta finds the paper which she seemed to search for on the back of a drawer. Disturbed by music, she surprises Gina and Sonny dancing in the living room, drunk and ambraced. But facing Julia, Mason succeeds in regaining the upper hand on his personality and proves to be sober. While she locked herself by mistake in the hospital staff room, Eden is frightened when hearing a noise behind the door of one of the cupboards...
Eden seems to have been a victim of a hallucination: there was no man with her in the hospital staff room. Mason is of the benefit to have taken back the control of his personality to ask Julia to get married in the evening - even. But at the time when the minister arrives, Sonny regains the upper hand and asks the minister to leave. Bunny follows Augusta to a graveyard without understanding why she is there. Later confronted with Gina who gets worried about his influence on Brandon, he is forced to explain the origin of the passion for pretence. Lydia makes a television broadcast where she stands up for Cain. Later in The Lair, Phillip Hamilton threatens her with retaliation if she continues. He is then joined by Raymond whom he had hired in the past to scare Cain. Raymond claims money for his silence. The bishop of Michael forbids to him to announce his suspicion to the police. A policeman brings a letter to Cruz which has just been deposited in his box: it is an anonymous message which contains fingerprints to be analysed. Cruz learns that the shipper is Michael and asks him to come to his house. After reflexion, Michael claims to be ready to tell all that he knows to Cruz and Eden...
Héctor Mercado, who plays Raymond in this episode, will come back in 1992 to play another character, Ramon DelaVega.
Still in the hospital, Cain accepts the visit of a lawyer, Lauren Jenkins, who recommends for him to plead guilty. Cain refuses and asks him to leave. Michael opposes to the fact that Cruz wants to install a microphone in his confessional. He agrees however to install an alarm which he will alert when the rapist comes to him. Julia gives Shakespeare's rare work to Sonny as a wedding present. But Sonny envisaged nothing and immediately goes out to buy a locket. Julia does not appreciate that Sonny forgets her. Later, she finds a note in his jacket pocket, probably from Gina. Gina receives Keith's letter. She recollects a declaration of love which Keith made her once she opens the envelope: she finds Keith's photo there with another woman. Scott decides to go to C.C. to get the opinion on his workers who died of cancer. But when he surprises C.C. and Sophia in full preparations for a party in favour of Mason, he prefers turning back. In the hospital, still immobilised in the bed by straps, Cain is fed by a nurse when suddenly he chokes...

Dr Arthur Donnelly demands that Cain is seen out in prison. When a policeman comes to handcuff him, Cain puts him to the floor and grabs his weapon. Lydia offers that Cain takes her as a hostage to be able to escape the hospital. In the absence of father Michael, the rapist enters the chapel and discovers the burglar alarm installed in the confessional. When Michael is back, he is confronted with the rapist whom, wearing a balaclava, hits him. Cruz and Eden, who watched for a possible signal, see silhouettes in the chapel, but when they arrive, the rapist already left. He however left them a video tape where, facing the camera, he exonerates Cain and announces to Eden that he likes her more especially since she is carrying his baby. In the Capwell residence, Sonny and Julia repeat the wedding ceremony which will take place the following day. Sonny leaves the party to join Gina, by making sure that Augusta follows him. Discovering Sonny and Gina kissing each other, Augusta goes back to search for her sister in the hope that she finally puts an end to her wedding plans. Julia discovers Gina and Sonny embraced across a window pane in front of the chimney of the Lockridge residence...
The following morning, Julia is still convinced that the marriage will take place. According to advice from Gina, Sonny tries to break up with Julia, but the personality of Mason gains the upper hand and prevents him from doing it. Augusta offers T.J. to accompany her to the ceremony which is being held at the Capwell residence. Michael shows Cruz the footprints on the step in the chapel probably belonging to the rapist. Cruz identifies them as being the same that were raised near the window of Cain's hospital room some days before. Cain and Lydia escape Santa Barbara on board of a van which ends up breaking down. When they hear police sirens, they are going to take refuge in an abandoned barn. But they are joined by Vic Boswell and his men who command Cain to come out. The wedding ceremony between Sonny and Julia finally takes place. But when father Michael asks if somebody has a reason to oppose to the union, Julia declares that she abandons the idea of getting married...

Julia runs into a room on the floor. She is joined by Sonny who proves to be unable to reason with her. The ceremony is finally officially cancelled. Cain lets Lydia join Vic Boswell and he puts in working order an arrest for complicity of escape. Cruz arrives just at the time when Boswell orders his men to charge them. He joins Cain in the barn and tells him that the charges are being dropped. Cain is finally free. Having refused Lydia's timid advances, he goes with Eden and Cruz. He tells them that he is leaving for his mountains in Utah and that he is saying goodbye to them. While Julia comes back to find Samantha at home, Sonny goes to see Gina. Uneasy after all has taken place, he nevertheless celebrates his victory on Mason and breaks the mirror in which he appeared to him once again...

It is Thanksgiving day. Gina, with whom Sonny spent the night, finds a living turkey in his living room. Discovering that it is Keith's present, she and Brandon hope to see him coming back for dinner. C.C., Sophia and Kelly encourage Sonny to go to see Julia. But Julia asks him to take his business, leave the home, and never again approach her and Samantha. Bunny accompanies Augusta to dig out the coffin of an old aunt where mysterious jewellery is hidden. In the chapel, Michael, Heather, Scott, Arthur and Victoria are joined by Julia and Samantha to celebrate Thanksgiving. In the evening, each dinner is shown: C.C., Sophia, Ted, Kelly, Jeffrey and Sonny are in the Capwell residence; Eden, Cruz and Chip are at their beach house; and Gina and Brandon, find themselves with each other only, in front of a pizza. For their part, surprised in the graveyard by a policeman, Augusta and Bunny spend the night of Thanksgiving in prison...
