Young lawyer of the city, Thomas Randolph was rightly preferred, as part of the application for custody of Chip made by Cruz Castillo, to other lawyers of the family who would be too involved (Mason Capwell, Julia Wainwright for example).

It is in the living room of Eden and Cruz's new house that he expresses them a proposal of argument to make in front of the judge : he plans to use elements of Victoria's past to demonstrate that today she is again unstable and therefore unable to assume her little boy on a daily basis. Thomas explains that they will not be able to use Victoria's confidential medical file. However, they can use the past to influence the present. As he specifies to Eden and Cruz, there is not much things : a 3rd zone film in which Victoria had a nude scene and of apartments evictions at her debut as an actress.

Face of Cruz's doubts on this tactic (Cruz has the impression of hounding an already injured person), he remains just and factual : if Cruz wants to obtain custody of his son, he must fight and give himself all the means to achieve it. Thomas argues that Chip's safety is at stake and that after that it will be too late.

Thomas Randolph will not have to argue in front of a judge and possibly force Cruz to attack Victoria on her past, because this latter fled with Chip.
