Portrait |
Solicited by Warren Lockridge as part of his research on the explosion of the Capwell oil rig in 1982, Mr. Shefter waits to meet the young Lockridge and Maggie Gillis at his new workplace. Mr. Shefter is an elderly, white-haired man who now works at the Capwell Hotel. He can only bring little evidence about the explosion. He explains that in 1982, he was working in the offices of the oil rig and that he saw nothing special. For him, the people who were at the top of the oil rig had to see more things. He explains that today, he works here, at the Capwell Hotel, thanks to the generosity of the Capwell family. He specifies that the Capwells took care of all the oil rig's employees. His last words leave Warren and Maggie perplexed, even if they make no remarks. Mr. Shefter is innocent and if he can take advantage of the generosity of the Capwells, he should do so. Warren thanks him for his help, letting him return to his work. Portrait written for this site by Lilian Read also : The explosion of the Capwell oil rig |
