Portrait

Heiress princess of a small Central European country, New Stailand, Princess Celeste bears little resemblance to a true fairy-tale princess. She is closer instead to the wicked witches who ceaselessly seek youth and power. Married for convenience to Prince Adrian (their respective fathers arranged everything), Celeste suffered from her princely husband's selfishness and lack of love. In search of affection and recognition, as the King reproaches her, Princess Celeste openly cheated on her husband with palace guards.

Now, with Amy Perkins's arrival at the New Stailand palace, Princess Celeste knows her future is in jeopardy. The world she built threatens to collapse, despite all the efforts she has made. Even though, during her first encounters with Amy disguised as a monk, she always managed to keep her away from the child, the scheme devised by Celeste and Jerry Cooper begins to crack on all sides. With her back against the wall, Celeste has no choice but to face the King and admit the truth. She confesses to Adrian's murder and assures the King that the child is indeed his grandson.

The story Celeste tells is as sad as it is sordid : seven years of loveless marriage, with nothing but contempt exchanged. After a trip to San Francisco with Jack Lee, Adrian tells his wife that he has had his sperm frozen and that if she wants a child by him, she need only help herself. Celeste's plan is simple : eliminate Adrian, then go to San Francisco to be inseminated. There, she meets Jerry Cooper (Jack's cousin) and, through him, refines her original plan. But by mistake, at a San Francisco clinic, Amy is confused with Celeste… Amy, asleep, is inseminated with the Prince's sperm in the Princess's place.

With the crime fully confessed, Celeste is arrested and taken to the dungeon. And Amy can finally take her son in her arms.

A tormented character, Celeste only briefly passes through the storyline. One might imagine that the dungeon guards lost the key to her cell. Otherwise, one could imagine that one day, upon the King's death, she might cross the ocean again to try to reclaim the heir to a kingdom...
