A member of the DeFranco mafia family, Lyle could be considered as the patriarch of this family. Friends and associates of the Tagliattis (the Tagliattis are the DeFrancos' debtors), the DeFrancos are just as whimsical as their rivals.

Contacted by Mario Tagliatti himself a few days before, he appears in order to do a favor to Bunny. His mission is named Mason Capwell or Sonny Sprockett. This one presents no ambiguity : to get rid of Mason Capwell, since he is an obstacle to the love of Bunny and Gina.

In fact, Lyle is an old clumsy man, with certainly among other things problems of sight (he cannot read the instructions of use of his rifle). Armed with a rifle with a long view, he tries to kill Mason. His first attempts are failures : once his ball ends in the forehead of a portrait, another time he drops his rifle which jams in an alley near Gina's bar (afraid, he ends up asking it to stop !)... He ends up however reaching his goal by hurting Mason on the day of his wedding with Gina.

Pursued by Bunny at the hospital, he could not conclude his mission. He is arrested a while later, denounced by Bunny himself. His arrest will be the reason for another wedding, that of Bunny and Vanessa DeFranco.

So he is leaving town on a failure. A whimsical character, too quickly dismissed, Lyle could have undoubtedly put unexpected in the life of Bunny and the other inhabitants of the Lockridge Villa.
