 Without
a doubt, Ivan is a man from the East, an ideal man for his profession.
With the build of a weightlifter, a stern expression beneath his
mustache, an inability to be softened even by Julia Wainwright, and few
words to spare... In short, Ivan has all the qualities of the perfect
bodyguard, exactly what the false Jack Lee is looking for to cover his
tracks.
During
the journey that takes Jerry Cooper to New Stailand, Ivan is constantly
at his side, following him like a shadow. He barely ever leaves him
alone, even when the fake Jack Lee tries to steal a moment of intimacy
with Julia. On several occasions, she will be the cause of failures in
some of his missions.
Ivan's
tasks are simple : obey all of his master's orders, as escorting him
wherever he goes, carrying Julia's heavy trunks, arresting the
Pattersons (who are in fact Brick Wallace and Amy Perkins)... During the
train journey, Ivan manages to intercept them. But as he fights with
Brick, he falls from the train. Ivan will never manage to rejoin his
master. His fall may well be an omen heralding the beginning of the end
for the false Jack Lee...
