He is a young man, of the same generation than Ben Gillis, with whom he enjoyed working when they were both employees on the Capwell oil rig. The sympathy he felt for Ben has now turned into a sincere and deep sorrow, a feeling that moves Maggie. Moreover, when he leaves the table of the restaurant, he concludes by saying that he hopes that they will succeed, because for him, he thinks about it since the accident, the Capwells are partly responsible for the explosion. It is at the Orient Express that he finds Warren Lockridge, Maggie Gillis and Mason Capwell to tell them what he knows about the explosion of 1982. In fact, even if the explosion was three years ago, he has few memories. It was while climbing a staircase that he crossed Ben; this latter then told him that it was going to explode. And a few seconds later, a violent explosion occured. The only information he had at the time suggested an overpressure problem. If he is well aware that he cannot be directly helpful to them, he evokes a person, perhaps the only person able to give them all the answers. This is where the name of Morgan Malone is first pronounced. He knows little about Malone's new life, except that he was wounded in the hand and has been wearing a black glove ever since. He also remembers that he now has a new name. It is on this information that he leaves the table, giving Warren and Maggie a glimpse of hope...
