This fan fiction centers on CC and Sophia during the first few weeks in 1993. I incorporated a few of the show's final scenes with my own version of what transpired afterwards. I felt that these characters weren't given the proper justice they deserved in the last few days of the series. For a couple that was so romantic, I was disappointed that the writers didn't provide the viewers with more scenes on their reunion. In my opinion, the last show should have centered on their 4th wedding.
Sophia
couldn't believe that the start of 1993 had begun without her really noticing
it. She remembered being at the wedding of Ted and Lilly and then her mind fell
into darkness. Once she regained consciousness, the life she became accustomed
to had disappeared. The last week had been a whirlwind. Not only did she
discover that she had been poisoned with strychnine, but then CC told her about
the death of Ken. She still couldn't believe that he was gone. What was even
more shocking was the insinuation that it was Ken who had poisoned her. It just
didn't make sense and now she found herself sitting in the guest room of the
Capwell mansion. CC had been insistent that she come here to recuperate. He had
been so attentive to her during this past week. She slept a lot as her body
needed to repair itself. She tried to keep a low profile so she didn't disrupt
the Capwell household. She appreciated CC's kind gestures, but felt so confused
by all that had transpired. Her life had completely unraveled and she was at a
pivotal juncture in her life. How could she move forward when the past six
months was literally a blur?
CC and Sophia were walking into the living room. They had been discussing the
reason why Ken was killed. CC said, "Darling, you are going to let this thing
drive you crazy if you keep thinking about it. Let the police take care of
everything and they'll let you know what's going to happen."
Sophia countered, "If Ken said he didn't try to kill me, I believe he didn't try
to kill me. He's not capable of something that."
CC asked, "Then who else could have done it?"
With conviction in her voice, Sophia answered, "The same person that killed his
wives, his first two wives. That's the person that killed him."
CC plainly stated, "He had a heart attack."
"He never could have had a heart attack, CC. He was in perfect shape. He
exercised. He was careful about what he ate. He wasn't a candidate for a heart
attack. Something else happened." Sophia began to get choked up and wiped away a
few tears with the tissues that she was holding.
CC could sense that Sophia was stressing out just talking about this whole
ordeal with Ken so he placed his arm around her shoulder and they began to walk
out to the atrium. He tried to calm her down by saying, "Okay, okay. Then what
we'll do is let the autopsy tell us what happened, okay. Then we'll know for
sure."
They stopped walking and Sophia turned around to face CC. His face conveyed the
worry that he was feeling for Sophia. She appreciated his concern. She then took
a deep breath. She couldn't hold back the tears any longer and with sincerity in
her voice she said, "Thank you." She walked up to CC and placed her forehead on
his chest. He put his arms around her shoulders. Sophia stepped back and
continued, "Thank you for caring so much. You've been very generous and very
sweet." She then walked up to him again and placed her arms around his neck for
a comforting hug. She then laid her head against his chest. His friendship meant
the world to her.
As CC held her tenderly, he tried to reassure her. "Don't you know that I've
always cared about you." Sophia nodded yes. "I may not have always showed it. I've
always wanted what was best for you, always." Sophia lifted her head and nuzzled
CC's face. Her mind was so clouded with all of the many emotions she was
feeling. She could feel that the spark between her and CC was beginning to
flicker again, but she couldn't deal with that right now so she broke away from
CC and instead took his hand in hers and began to lead him up the stairs. She
began to talk about Lilly and Ted so she could take her mind off of her own
troubles.
Sophia remained frazzled for the rest of the day. She tried to keep the dinner
conversation light and just talked about Kelly, Connor, Lilly and Ted. Mason and
Julia's joyous news of Julia being pregnant was a bright spot in the chaos that
had befallen the Capwell house these last few months. Sophia excused herself
from dinner and went to her room to change clothes. She looked around the empty
room and didn't want to be alone so she walked down the stairs and found CC
sitting on the couch. She walked up to him and asked, "Care for some company?"
With a slight smile he offered, "Sure, please come and sit down."
"I don't want to get in the way." Sophia sat down on the couch and then looked
around. "So where is Angela? I know I've been kind of out of it for the past
week, but I haven't seen her in days."
"Well, she isn't here," replied CC.
"Oh, when will she be back?" inquired Sophia.
"She won't be. We said our goodbyes and she has decided to leave Santa Barbara,"
CC said matter of fact.
"Oh, I'm sorry," Sophia said with real sympathy in her voice.
"You are?" CC said with some surprise lacing his words.
"Well, I mean I know how painful it is to end a relationship so I'm sorry that
you are hurting." She could empathize with him since she knew how much it hurt
when CC left her and now Ken was gone from her life.
"I'll be alright. It was a decision that I had been thinking about for quite
awhile." CC said reassuringly. He then looked at Sophia with soulful eyes. "So
tell me how you are feeling?"
"I feel lost, but I know it will get better. Thank you again for asking me to
come here to recuperate. It sure feels nice to be in a familiar setting with
good friends."
"I'm glad you are here too. Is there anything that you want or need?" CC
inquired.
"Do you have any glue to mend a broken heart and a shattered sense of trust?"
asked Sophia.
"I may not have any glue, but I can at least offer a shoulder to cry on." CC
held out his arms and motioned for Sophia to come to him. She gladly accepted
and placed her head on his shoulder. She curled her legs up on the couch and
laid comfortably on CC's chest. He wrapped his arms around her and settled back
into the pillows. Sophia closed her eyes and tried to soak in the warm feeling
of being close to CC again. "I'm here for you baby," CC said. She then snuggled
a little closer. Feeling his heartbeat brought back a flood of memories and
sense of serenity.
"As I mentioned to you in the hospital, please take all of the strength that you
need." Sophia was grateful for his words and gave him a small kiss on his cheek.
Neither said another word and soon found themselves drifting off to sleep. After
about twenty minutes, Sophia suddenly opened her eyes and after realizing that
she had fallen asleep in CC's arms, she quickly sat up.
CC was startled awake by Sophia's sudden movement. "Did you have a restful
catnap?" he asked as he wiped his eyes.
Sophia tried to regain her composure. "Actually, yes I did, but I'm so sorry to
have fallen asleep on you."
"Honey, it's okay. There's no need to apologize. I fell asleep too. I guess just
being near each other was consoling."
"Yeah, I guess so. Um if you don't mind, I would like to head upstairs to my
room." Sophia got up from the couch.
"No, of course I don't mind. I hope you have a restful night's sleep, but please
let me know if you need anything."
"Thank you CC for everything." Sophia turned and headed for the stairs. She
hoped CC's words would come to fruition and that she would be able to get some
much needed sleep, but she didn't hold a lot of faith in that proposition.
Sophia woke up the next morning feeling mentally exhausted. She had a fitful
night's sleep. The early morning hour didn't bring her much comfort when she
opened her eyes to the contents of the guest room. She expected to turn over to
feel CC next to her, but she was all alone. She put on her robe and walked down
the hall to CC's room. She peeked in and saw him sleeping. She gazed at him and
wondered why she wasn't lying next to him. She turned around and headed back to
her room and decided to take a shower and get ready to face another day.
The house was still quiet as it was too early for the staff to begin their day.
Even though the house was spacious, Sophia felt claustrophobic so she decided to
take a walk in the gardens. As she strolled though the flower beds, she began to
weep again thinking about the path of thorns her life had led her down. CC was
watching Sophia through his bedroom window and when he saw her crying he walked
out of his room and headed towards the garden. CC didn't want to scare Sophia so
he approached her cautiously and gently placed his hand on her shoulder. Sophia
jumped slightly and turned around. When she saw CC's gentle face, she walked up
to him and with no words needed, he gathered her in his arms and she wept softly
as he held her close.
After a few minutes of letting Sophia cry, CC said, "Mason called and said he
spoke with Connor. He's coming over here now to talk with you."
"Did he say what it's about?" asked Sophia.
"Just a little so I can only assume it's about the results from the autopsy. Are
you going to be alright when you hear the final conclusions?"
"I'm going to be as alright as I need to be CC." Just as she was about to
continue, Mason walked up.
"Good morning Mason," said Sophia.
"Good morning to you both." He then looked at CC and asked, "Can I speak to
Sophia alone?"
"Of course." He gave Sophia's hand a reassuring squeeze and then began to walk
away. As he was about to pass Mason, he whispered. "Please don't hurt her."
Mason replied, "I won't. I know how much she has already suffered."
CC walked back to the house. Mason turned towards Sophia. "Let's say we go for a
walk, okay. As they began to meander through the garden, Mason continued, "First
of all, how are you feeling?"
As they began to stroll, Sophia looked down at the flowers and flatly answered, "I'm
doing okay."
"Ah, the standard vague answer given by those that have something to hide, so
come out with it. It's me after all so tell me exactly how you are really
feeling," Mason prodded.
"Honestly, I feel broken on the inside and out. I'm physically drained, I'm
depressed and sad, but I'm also thankful that I'm alive and that there are no
long-lasting effects from the poisoning."
"All of those things can be rectified given ample time and being around those
who care about your welfare and want to see you happy again. Thank you for being
so honest about your state of mind. Now, I have news for you so brace yourself.
The autopsy report revealed some note worthy facts. Ken died from apoplexy
caused by a certain drug only found in Switzerland. It mimics a heart attack.
Andi admitted that she is the one that gave him the drug, but she has since fled.
They found traces of the drug in the teacup she gave to him in his cell. Ironic
isn't it since it was Ken who administered the strychnine in the cups of tea he
was giving to you." Sophia just closed her eyes as Mason's words smashed into
her conscious. He continued. "I know this is hard to hear, but it was Ken and
Andi who killed his first two wives so that they could inherit their money. Andi
and he had an ongoing relationship for years. It wasn't coincidence that you met
her on the airplane coming back from Hong Kong, which lead to her getting the
job at Armonti. That appears to have been arranged since they had discussed it
in the same hotel suite that you and he shared in Hong Kong."
Sophia shook her head in disbelief as she heard the truth. "So CC was right
about her being there in Hong Kong. I didn't want to believe him since I thought
he was just lying to manipulate me."
"This time, dear old dad was right and he was only trying to look out for you.
Bottom line is that Ken was as unscrupulous as we thought and was just using you
for your money. When you are well enough to return to Armonti, don't be
surprised if you encounter issues with the finances or the staff. I've received
word that he attempted to siphon funds to his account."
"How could I have been so wrong about him? He almost destroyed me both
personally and professionally," confessed Sophia.
"Sophia, you didn't know so you can't blame yourself. Besides the pills were
clouding your judgment when you gave him power of attorney. After you fell under
the effects of the pills, he was able to give you the doses of strychnine."
"Does CC know all of this?" she tentatively asked.
"I called him earlier and gave him the highlights, but I suggested that I come
over myself to tell you since I didn't want there to be any misunderstandings
between you two. I didn't want you to think that my father was fabricating any
of these details just because he didn't like Ken. For once, he had the good
sense to realize that Ken was conniving and greedy. Even though my father can be
the most arrogant human being and has committed the most outrageous atrocities,
the one constant that has always remained is his unabashed love for you. You
bring a sense of stability and calmness to him. Sophia, you have been through
more than one person should bear, so if for no one else but yourself, please
seize this chance to be happy again. You know that you belong here with the
family and most of all married to dad. I know you still love him. Don't let
Ken's destruction continue to damage your future."
"Wow, this is a lot to process. Thank you for being straight with me about Ken.
I guess I knew deep down that he was no good for me, but I was too embarrassed
to admit that he was just using me for my bank account. It's so hard to
comprehend the fact that someone you love could actually want you dead. My own
husband wanted to kill me. That is beyond human comprehension. You are correct
that CC has not been shy about his feelings towards Ken or for that matter, his
love for me. I am a bit surprised though that you would still want him and me to
be married again."
"Well, when you see two people in love, but are separated due to foolish reasons,
you know it's just not right. You two were cosmically designed to be together.
You can't help who you fall in love with so who is it for anyone to keep you
apart or judge you for wanting to be with the person you were meant to be with?
I need to tell you that I genuinely feel bad for my past tyrants against you.
You are a good person and I know that you've always looked out for me. You've
defended me many times with the family and I respect you for that. Not to shock
you any further, but I love you Sophia and I am truly glad that you are going to
be okay and I just think you deserve to have peace in your life."
"Oh thank you so much Mason for your kind words. I know it wasn't easy for you
to say those things to me. I hope you know that I do love you as if you were my
own."
"It may have taken years in the making, but I do know that fact and I'm grateful
for your love. Now, let me know how I can help heal you and get you acclimated
again into this crazy Capwell clan." They hugged each other and for Sophia, it
was the first step in reclaiming the life she so missed.
Back at the house, CC waited anxiously for Mason and Sophia's return. He just
wanted to be there in case Sophia needed him. As Sophia and Mason stepped
through the door, CC could see a change in her demeanor. She seemed to be
regaining some of her confidence and he could see a trace of a smile. "Darling,
is everything okay?"
"I'm okay CC. Why don't we discuss this around breakfast?" Between Mason and
Sophia, they explained to CC the details of Ken's autopsy results. After they
finished their morning coffee, Mason excused himself so he could go check on the
new baby. Kelly called and asked if her mom would join her at the spa, which
Sophia gladly accepted. The full body massage and facial was just what she
needed to calm her nerves.
Upon her return to the mansion, she spent a good portion of the day in her room
making decisions about the next stage in her life. The first thing she did was
remove her wedding ring. She believed in the institution of marriage, but wanted
so badly to just forget about her union with Ken. She then called the realtor to
place the house on the market. She planned to donate the money from the house,
plus the contents to charity. She wanted nothing that reminded her of her life
with Ken.
Even though CC respected Sophia's need to be alone to collect her thoughts, he
couldn't help feeling a little lost. He was beginning to think that maybe Sophia
would decide to leave the mansion and go back to her home. His feelings for her
were as strong as ever, but he couldn't gauge how she felt about him. When
Sophia opted to skip dinner and spend the evening in her room, CC was worried
that his chances to be with her were slipping away.
The morning fog had rolled in off the ocean. What irony since that is how
Sophia's mind felt. Her sadness about Ken had now dissolved into anger so she
was trying to use her quiet time to resolve those feelings. On the other end of
the spectrum, she was also feeling the desire to be with CC again. Her thoughts
about being a part of this house and his life were growing stronger with each
passing day, but she couldn't help admonishing herself about how wrong she had
been about Ken. She guessed he was just revenge against CC's decision to stay
with Santana and so she wanted so badly to believe that Ken loved her as she had
loved him. She just wanted to feel loved, but in reality, she wanted that love
to come from CC. In some ways, she let her subconscious think it was CC in order
to perpetuate the lie she was living under. It was time though to be honest with
CC about her intentions.
Upon finding CC sitting at the kitchen table reading the paper, she interrupted
him. "Good morning."
"Oh, hi honey. Did you sleep well? Come sit down and I'll get you a cup of
coffee."
As CC prepared her coffee, Sophia sat down. "CC, I've been thinking a lot and I
am now starting to believe that you were right about Ken." CC looked at Sophia
with curiosity, but didn't say anything. "I should have at least listened to you
and then maybe I would have been more open to seeing the signs. Like him always
wanting to give me tea, which was what he used to put the strychnine in. He had
me convinced that I was feeling poorly due to stress or even going so far as
blaming it on menopause. He liked making me think he was helping me when all
along it was he who was hurting me."
CC handed her the coffee and sat back down. "Honey, I didn't want to be right. I
wasn't trying to sabotage your relationship for selfish reasons. I mean, I will
admit that I didn't like him just for the mere fact that I was jealous, but my
instincts kept nagging at me that there was something underneath his façade.
There were underlying motives and I knew that money was his driving force. I
truly only had your best interest at heart. I had accepted the fact that I
couldn't have you and as much as that hurt, that was not why I had him
investigated. I am sorry about the bribe, but again, I was just trying to get
him to leave town. I just feel bad that he didn't take me up on the offer and
that you were subjected to all of his devious tactics."
"But you tried all you could to stop it and I just didn't listen. A lot of
things are starting to come into focus for me and I'm now realizing that he was
the conman that you tried to warn me about. I so appreciate you taking such
measures to protect me. I'm just so sorry for both of us that I couldn't believe
you. I wanted to be loved, but foolishly put my faith in the wrong person.
Sometimes, I think I just need a long break from everything."
Even though her last words stung since CC truly wanted her back, he knew he just
needed to be supportive. "Darling please don't berate yourself anymore. It's in
the past now. As of today, you need to concentrate on getting well and I intend
to see that you get the rest and quiet time that you need in order to heal your
heart. Please stay as long as you would like."
"Thank you for being so understanding and for letting me stay here. Being in
this house, surrounded by caring people has helped me more than I can say."
After they finished breakfast, CC decided to go for a walk in the garden. He
needed to sort out what he was going to do with his life. The woman he loved
dearly was at arms reach and he didn't have the power to pull her back into his
heart.
Sophia stood by the window watching CC as he ambled through the garden. He
seemed so solemn. Sophia walked away from the window and knew what her next
decision would be.
CC stood by the fountain in the garden. He was daydreaming when Sophia
approached him and said, "Look at you! The great CC Capwell tossing coins in the
fountain. Wishing for things that can never be. You know, of all the lessons
that you had to learn, giving up has always alluded you."
"Maybe it's about time," said CC with defeat punctuating his words.
"I hope you don't mean that," replied Sophia with a bit of surprise in her voice
at hearing CC's defeatist attitude and then she pointed to the fountain and
asked, "What does this remind you of?"
"Our old atrium." CC said and Sophia chuckled. After a short pause to reflect on
past memories, he added, "Happier times."
Sophia continued his thought, "When things were simple and clear and neither one
of us had any doubts exactly where we were supposed to be . . . together."
"I wish to hell I had one of those times again," CC replied with regret in his
voice.
Turning towards CC, Sophia asked, "Why do you think I'm here?"
CC looked at Sophia inquisitively. "You and I?" Sophia nodded yes.
CC continued, "Baby, we've been around the block so many times. No matter how
much we've loved each other and God knows we have, we never got it right."
Sophia turned towards the reflecting water in the fountain as she pondered about
the meaning of their past history. "Life is so precious and so very, very
tenuous and you can lose it in a blink of an eye and if you base that life in
anyway on a lie then you've wasted it and ultimately you don't deserve to have
it at all." She turned and looked into CC's eyes so he didn't miss what she was
about to say. "So I'm coming to you today to tell you I have finally learned my
life's lesson and that is I love you so much and no matter what has happened
nothing can change that. And if you'll have me, I want to be your wife again!"
With astonishment, surprise and excitement, CC exclaimed, "If I will have you?
If I will have you?" CC repeated the second if with more emphasis as the
realization set it. He then placed his hands on Sophia's arms. "My darling,
don't you know in this whole world all I want to be married to is you. I love
you!"
"I love you too!" Sophia declared with a huge smile and then they hugged each
other, all the while declaring their love for one another.
CC pulled back for a second and stated, "I want you to be sure. I don't want you
to rush into anything."
With a reaffirming smile, Sophia stated, "Don't you hear what I'm trying to tell
you? We've wasted too much time already!"
CC's eyes became moist with tears of joy and he then emphatically proclaimed, "Welcome
home honey. Welcome home!" They both collapsed into each other arms and kissed
as if they had never been separated this past year and a half.
CC couldn't have been more elated by Sophia's words. He kept thinking this was
all just a dream. As Sophia took a step back, she said, "CC, you're the one true
person I can believe in. You know me better than anyone else. You know every
nuance, every idiosyncrasy and you accept me for who I am."
CC smiled and said, "You've made me so happy."
"We've made each other happy," Sophia joyously replied. She then became pensive.
"I'm so sorry about all that happened with Ken. Even though I tied to deny your
critical words about him, which had merit, I knew in the recesses of my mind
that you were correct. I guess I let my foolish pride get in the way of
admitting to the worst mistake I could have ever made and that was getting
involved with Ken Mathis. I'm just so sorry that it went that far."
"Honey, if only I had not gotten involved with Santana, then you would have
never gravitated towards Ken. I knew that you loved him and I came to accept
that since one of the qualities I love about you is your commitment and capacity
to love. We both made wrong choices. We've come full circle and now we are
making the right choice."
"I heard the words you said to me while I was lying in that hospital bed. I
heard your confession that you loved me and wanted me back. At first I thought
it was just my hazy mind playing tricks on me, but when I woke up and found you
slumped in that chair sleeping next to me, I knew that it was real. The fact
that you stayed with me all night really touched me. Your words comforted me and
helped me to fight even harder to regain the life that I had let slip away."
CC thought about the real possibility of losing Sophia and his eyes welled up
with tears. "I thought I had lost you forever and it just pains my heart that he
hurt you and almost took you away from us." As tears now flooded his eyes, CC
continued, "When I thought we were going to lose you from the drug overdose and
then days later from the poisoning, I just couldn't imagine not seeing your
pretty face again or not hearing your soothing voice. I love you more than I can
ever tell you."
As Sophia's tears flowed freely down her cheeks, she replied, "We've never
really lost each other since we've never let each other go. We have too deep a
connection for anyone or anything to come between us. I'm just so sorry that I
brought Ken into our lives."
CC placed his hands on the sides of Sophia's face and bent down and kissed a few
of her tears away. "Hey, no need to be sorry since we both brought unhealthy
people into this family. I couldn't have been more wrong about staying with
Santana. I should have never left you. I promise you my darling that I will
never leave your side again. I've never stopped wanting to be with you."
With conviction in her voice, Sophia replied, "Well this time we won't let each
other go. Let's not let the past dictate our present and future. Let's start new
as of right now. CC, I meant what I said. I love you so much and all I want is
to be married to you and live our life together in this house with our children
and grandchildren filling our days with happiness."
"I will never let anyone hurt you again, including myself," CC stated
categorically.
"Tell you what, how about if we take care of each other so that neither of us
will get hurt. We seem to get hurt when we're not together. I don't think we
need to be taught any more lessons on the obvious fact that we need each other
and being united is our destiny. Let's not tempt fate anymore."
"I couldn't agree more." Even though he wanted to pull Sophia to him so he could
kiss her with all of the adoration he was feeling, he knew that she might not be
quite ready. In spite of the wonderful kiss she gave him a few minutes ago, he
wanted her to guide him as he had no intentions of rushing her or hurting her in
any way.
Sophia could sense his hesitation and wanted to reassure him that their feelings
towards each other still burned brightly so she stepped up to her beloved CC and
fiancé for the fourth time and kissed him passionately. Her hands slid down to
his lower back and CC could feel his reluctance to be with her slipping away. It
has been so long since they had been intimate, but CC was going to take his cues
from Sophia. He wanted to be close to her and love her, but wasn't sure if she
had recuperated enough physically and emotionally. Just holding her again in his
arms this way was magical. He was willing to be patient. He wasn't about to take
any chances with making any mistakes.
After they parted to catch their breaths, Sophia took CC's hand into hers and
said, "Let's go inside. It's been long overdo since we've been together and I
don't intend to waste any more minutes."
"Are you sure?" asked CC.
"Wasn't that last kiss enough reassurance? We've denied each other of this
moment for too long now." Sophia took his hand into hers and headed towards
home. CC pulled her close to him and they walked up to the Capwell mansion. The
house was the one true oasis for them.
As they were strolling through the lawn, Sophia said, "CC, I don't want to go
back to my house. I called the realtor to make the necessary arrangements to
have it sold along with its contents. The money from the sale of the house can
be allocated to our favorite charities." She paused for a moment and then with
slight uncertainty, she said, "Also, I know this is a sensitive subject, but I
contacted Ken's next of kin to collect his remains. After hearing what he did to
his other wives and his attempt to murder me, I wouldn't feel right making his
burial arrangements."
"Darling, I will do whatever you want me to do with the house and I will respect
your decision regarding Ken's funeral."
The newly engaged couple walked into the house, but before they made their way
upstairs, Sophia stopped and turned to look into the eyes of her one true love. "I
have a great idea for a wedding ring. I want to take the diamonds from my 1987
and 1990 wedding ring and create a new setting. How does a February fourteenth
wedding sound to you?"
CC happily replied, "My dear that sounds perfectly romantic. I would marry you
this instant, but I will oblige and wait until Valentine's Day." He leaned down
and kissed his fiancé and as he slowly pulled away, he commented, "We've always
been married in our hearts. You are still the most romantic, vibrant, beautiful
woman and I love you very much."
"I love you too. Now that all of that has been settled, we can dedicate our
lives to making the most out of each day." Sophia paused and gazed into CC's
eyes and with sincere passion, she said, " CC, please take me upstairs." They
walked hand in hand up the staircase. Upon reaching the bedroom, Sophia looked
around and sarcastically said, "The first thing we must do is redecorate this
place."
While laughing CC said, "I agree. I told you a long time ago that I wreak havoc
when I'm not with you." As Sophia looked around the room imagining how she was
going to change it, CC kept looking at her lovingly. He was transfixed on her.
Sophia finally noticed CC's observation and asked, "Why do you keep staring at
me?"
CC replied, "I can't believe you are here with me and in this manner. I guess
I'm just afraid that you are just going to vanish."
"Well believe in the fact that I'm not going anywhere. No matter what path life has taken me down, I've always gravitated towards you. I've been so unsure of myself these past few months, but you are the one person that I'm so very sure of. I know there is no need to question our love or commitment. I'm sorry I pushed you away. I feel bad about the circumstances that ultimately lead us back to each other, but I believe in my heart that it would have occurred no matter what. This is our moment. This is where we should have always been. Thank you for saving me and accepting me back into your life."
"All that matters is that you are here with me again. Time has not erased my
feelings or my desire to be with you. I'll do whatever it takes this time. I
won't fail you and won't ever turn away from you." CC reached down and began to
unbutton Sophia's blouse, but his hands were trembling. His breath caught in his
throat as he was overcome with love, passion and gratitude. "I don't want to
rush you or hurt you in anyway."
Sophia chuckled a bit and then placed her hands over his and said, "Its okay CC.
I won't break. I'm not that fragile. I've never wanted to be with you more. Here,
let me help." As Sophia finished unbuttoning her blouse, CC pulled off his shirt.
He then placed his hands under the fabric of Sophia's shirt and gently removed
it from her shoulders. He caressed her shoulders and her arms as he let her
blouse fall to the floor. "Your body feels so soft." Sophia appreciated his
affection. It had been so long since she felt safe and loved. CC placed his hand
under Sophia's chin and brushed his lips across hers. This sent Sophia to
another plateau. He lightly placed kisses on her cheeks and nose and purposely
avoided her mouth to increase the intensity of the moment. Sophia smiled at him
with her eyes and placed her hands on his face and pulled him down to her
waiting mouth. She pressed her body against his and kissed him hard. The feel of
her body next to his skin made him lose all sense of reality and the only
thought he had was to please her. He reached down and picked her up and carried
her over to the bed where he set her down tenderly.
Sophia laid her head back on the pillow and CC bent down and gave her several
soft kisses. He didn't want to rush this reunion. He wanted to give her time to
relax and enjoy what it's like to be truly loved. With each kiss, Sophia's need
for CC grew stronger and stronger. She rubbed his shoulders and massaged his
back. CC abandoned Sophia's mouth so he could trail kisses down each side of her
neck. He then brought his hand up and lightly caressed her collar bones from
shoulder to shoulder with just his finger tips. He followed his tracings with
tender kisses. He could feel her heart beating beneath her flesh. He took his
other hand and ran it up and down her thigh. He felt her muscles quiver under
each stroke. Sophia closed her eyes to allow her body to focus all of its energy
on the places where CC was touching. She ran her fingers through his hair. He
then kissed the exposed top part of her breasts above her bra line, at which
time she cried out and said, "CC, I need you so much right now. Please make love
me as you are the only one that truly knows how." CC didn't take the time to
answer, but instead set out to show her how much he loved her and how much his
body and mind ached to be close to hers.
The heat of the afternoon was no match for the heat that CC and Sophia generated.
Their intensity was palpable and their love was enviable. Once again, they
reaffirmed their commitment to each other and basked in the tranquility of what
being intimate meant to both of them.
Sophia was lying on her back and CC was lying on his side next to her. He had
his head propped up on his elbow. Both were reveling in the incredible love they
reignited. Sophia was the first to speak. "Thank you CC for allowing me to
escape with you. This is how it should have always been. Being with you feels so
natural and so real. You know me so well. My body comes alive under your touch.
I know it's been so long since we've been together like this, but yet it brings
back so many wonderful memories."
With sincerity, CC said, "No, I should be thanking you. You are my guarding
angel. As much as you might think I saved you, it was you who saved me from
myself. I was about to enter into a doomed marriage with Angela. I was going to
settle for a life less ordinary with her since I thought I could never have the
extraordinary life with you again, but all of that has changed now and I can't
tell you how happy I am to have you back in my life. I didn't think we would
ever get another chance and then you saved the best for last." He looked into
Sophia's beautiful eyes and avowed, "God, I've missed everything about you! The
sound of your voice, the way you feel, the way you move, the way you taste and
the way you make my very existence whole again."
Sophia smiled and then looked lovingly into CC's eyes. "I've missed you too! I
didn't fully realize how much I did until now. You're my hero and I can't wait
to say our vows since it will solidify my love for you and my eternal commitment."
She placed her hands on the sides of his head and gently pulled him down so that
he could rest his head on her shoulder. She stroked his hair and continued. "This
is such an all-consuming love. Every fiber of my being is with you. You're all
the things I desire. I don't want to make it through another day without you."
With confidence, CC remarked, "If I have anything to do with it that will never
happen. I promise not to be so hard headed, especially when it comes to giving
you space. I've never stopped being in love with you."
Sophia smiled and said, "Why don't we just take our lives day by day and just
believe in each other. Let's not put unrealistic expectations on each other or
on our kids." CC shook his head in agreement. After awhile, they decided to get
up and call the children with the news of their reunion. They spent the evening
discussing their wedding plans.
Sophia woke up the next morning feeling refreshed. After her and CC had spent
the early evening rediscovering each other again, she was then able to conquer
the battle with insomnia and get the rest she was in desperate need of. Finally
being with CC allowed her to put her stressors aside and start enjoying her
daily life. A life that included CC. She felt so comfortable being back in the
house, which had become like a member of the family. It had a certain style,
character and charm that solidified her connection to the Capwell empire. Being
in these walls was paradise for them.
CC and Sophia spent the next day at the jewelers requesting the necessary
updates for their final wedding rings. Then they went shopping for all new
clothes for Sophia. She relished turning CC on as she modeled the clothes for
him. They went to dinner at the Oasis, where they ran into Lionel and Gina. Even
though Gina snickered a bit upon hearing that they were getting married again,
she also conceded to the fact that their chemistry was undeniable and they were
destined to be together. Lionel could only offer sincere congratulations to them
and wished them all the best.
A few nights later, Sophia woke up in the middle of the night breathing hard.
She had a nightmare and was disoriented. As her eyes come into focus, she
realized she was right where she belonged, which was with CC in their bed. She
rolled over to touch his arm. Confirming his presence next to her eased her
anxiety produced from the dream. No matter how much she wanted to resume her
life with CC, she was still plagued by frightful thoughts and feelings from the
ordeal Ken subjected her too. How could she have been so wrong about him and
allow him to manipulate her like that? She tried not to continue to torture
herself with these self doubts, but during times like this when she was awakened
by a nightmare, she felt alone and scared. While her mind raced through the
horror she lived through during the past six months, she hadn't realized that
her grip on CC's arm had gotten tighter since she was too wrapped up in her past
recriminations.
Feeling increased pressure on his arm, CC stirred awake and turned towards
Sophia. He noticed she had a distant, but disturbed look upon her face so he
gently placed his hand over hers and whispered, "Honey, are you okay?"
CC's voice snapped Sophia back to reality and she turned towards him. The
moonlit sky cast a silvery beam into the room and Sophia could see the
distressed look on CC's face. He was worried about her. "I . . . I had a bad
dream." She then noticed that her hand was still clenched to CC's arm. "Oh my
gosh, I'm so sorry that I awakened you."
"It's okay sweetheart. I'm here for you," CC said in a soothing tone.
Sophia scooted over and buried her head in CC's chest. He wrapped his arms
around her and rubbed her back.
"I'm sorry that I'm so needy right now. I feel so vulnerable and weak. I'm not
the same strong woman I used to be."
"Yes, you are strong darling. Give yourself time to heal from the inside out.
You have lived through hell and survived it. That makes you one of the strongest
people I know so don't you forget that."
"I'm trying hard to eradicate these images that have been hounding me, but his
mental and emotional abuse really took a toll on me. It makes me so furious. It
was all a lie. He never loved me."
"Honey, it's completely understandable that you would be angry and sad. Give
yourself the time and space needed to hemorrhage these negative thoughts. I know
you don't want to dwell on the past, but you need to deal with this in order to
be truly happy," CC said in a gently voice.
"I'm just sorry that this is taking longer than I had intended since all I want
now is to just be with you," replied Sophia.
"My darling, you can't rush your recovery and we have the rest of our lives to
be together. Don't worry so much. Time heals all wounds. I promise to keep you
safe."
Sophia propped herself up on her elbow and placed her other hand along side of
CC's cheek and look directly into his eyes. "Thank you for everything. I stopped
living on the inside. The spark was gone and now you brought the light back."
CC replied, "It's me who needs to thank you for coming back to me. You just have
no idea how much I love you and will treasure you always. I've never been more
alive then when I'm in your embrace. It's so wonderful that we can still conjure
up the passion we have so enjoyed throughout our entire life. We may have had
hiccups along the way, but we've overcome those hurdles. You have remained a
part of me always. You are the light of my life and the love of my life."
"It feels different this time. We have a shared, sustained commitment. It's
about us with a shared goal of just loving each other the best way we can. Thank
you for believing in me and in us." With that said, Sophia leaned over and
pressed her mouth to CC's and let herself get lost in him. She continued to
press harder to let him know that she needed to be connected to him body and
spirit. CC turned her over on her back and tenderly kissed his bride to be. He
needed her as well and they both subconsciously knew that they would continue to
have these ups and downs until they both felt secure in their final reunion.
Sophia needed his strength now more than ever and CC needed to feel her warmth.
When Sophia's eyes slid open, she found herself cradled in CC's arms. She could
hear the rhythmic sounds of his breathing as he slept soundly. She caressed his
arm lightly and was so appreciative of him being there for her in every way
possible. She was grateful that he was being patient with her recovery. His
words from the previous night helped her to resolve some her anxieties
associated with her late husband. As the morning light was desperately trying to
stream though the blinds, Sophia looked around their room as she had done a few
days ago and made mental notes on the many changes she wanted done. She laid in
CC's arms for about a half an hour before he stirred and slowly greeted the
morning's light. Upon feeling Sophia nestled in his arms, he smiled and then
said, "Good morning sunshine."
In a chipper voice, Sophia relied, "Good morning to you!"
"How long have you been awake?" CC asked.
"Just for a little while. I was looking around this room and want to call the
decorator today since this room needs a complete make over."
"With your exquisite taste, I have full confidence that any transformation that
you make will be magnificent. In the meantime, I think we need to bring laughter
back into our lives." With that said, he began to tickle Sophia. She squirmed
away from him when she couldn't take it any longer. She grabbed a pillow and hit
him across the chest. CC grabbed another pillow and playfully hit her back, thus
a pillow fight ensued. After a few minutes, Sophia fell back on the bed laughing
hysterically. "You're crazy!"
CC happily replied, "Yep, crazy in love with you even after all these years." He
pointed his finger at her and exclaimed, "There it is!"
"There is what?" Sophia asked.
"That infectious laugh. I wasn't sure I would ever hear it again," CC said with
a big smile.
"It was because of you that it came back. You make me feel like a teenager again.
Thank you for giving me my hope back. I'm not frightened anymore. I won't fear
our love or our life together. I will embrace it with open arms and an open
heart. Most important, thank you for unbreaking my heart. I love you." She
reached up and gave CC a kiss.
"I love you too sweetheart. I'm the lucky one who got the girl." He leaned down
to kiss her again. "It's so nice to hold you again with no reservations." He
kissed Sophia again and knew in his heart that his life had new meaning.
During the next few weeks, Sophia assimilated herself back into the Capwell
household. She not only regained her physical strength, but her mental status
was well on its way to a full recovery. She spent lots of time with Samantha and
the new baby. Kelly and CC had eased up on their concerns for her and allowed
her to enjoy her independence again. She went back to work a few days a week.
She found out that Ken had attempted to dismantle the board of directors and
severed contracts with important vendors so Sophia had to creatively resolve
these matters. Although there were issues at work that needed attention, Sophia
felt so alive since she knew that at the end of the day, she got to return home
to her family. CC did his best to assist her with the problems at Armonti. His
support was welcoming.
Valentine's Day had finally arrived. Sophia chose a simple, but elegant wedding
dress. It was knee length, pale yellow satin. It had long sleeves and a
v-neckline. She wanted to keep the wedding ceremony small so she only ordered a
few bouquets of yellow and white daisies. What meant more to her was her family
witnessing her vows to CC.
CC said his vows first. "My precious Sophia, I can never express to you how much
you mean to me or how much I love you. You are the woman I have loved my whole
life. Nobody has ever brought as much joy, laughter, passion, understanding and
love into my life as you have. It's all about you baby and God as my witness
today in front of our family, I will never do anything to jeopardize this
marriage. You have always been my favorite love. Anytime that we have been happy
together was my favorite year. It will be about making each other happy and
being a true union on all levels. I promise to never let anyone come between us.
I love you so much Sophia and I cannot wait to spend each day with you as my
wife and partner for life."
It was now Sophia's turn. "I love you too CC and you are right that this fourth
time around will be different. We have finally reached a level of mutual trust,
respect and compassion. I will gladly accept your declaration and will also
never break these vows to be together forever. Love is the one constant that we
have shared. This time, we will put that love first. Thank you for being patient
with me and for expressing so much caring and love during these past several
weeks. Even when you didn't say a word, I felt your love. Please know that I am
so deeply in love with you and I too am looking forward to sharing our days and
nights together. You have all of me. We finally have us. Us has a whole new
meaning now and we cannot take it for granted. Until the storms fill my eyes and
we touch the last time, I will love you with all that I have. We will be husband
and wife now and forever more."
The minister led them through the exchanging of their rings. Placing these
poignant symbols on each other's fingers was the final step in connecting them
together as one. Their past transgressions had fallen away and their rings were
their way of showing everyone else that their commitment was unending. The
minister then pronounced them husband and wife.
CC pulled Sophia in and gave her a sweet kiss to punctuate the finale of their
fourth marriage. Sophia looked at him mischievously and said, "It should be more
like this!" She wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a deep, passionate
kiss. CC had a surprised looked on his face and she remarked, "See, I told you
things were going to be different this time!" Everyone laughed and then cheered
on the marriage of their parents.
After dinner, CC looked around the dining room and didn't see his beloved bride
so he decided to go look for her. As he approached the kitchen, he saw her
removing champagne glasses from the cupboard. He walked up behind her and
gathered her in his arms. "You are so irresistible. I can't keep my hands off of
you!" She turned her head and he kissed her with everything he had. Sophia
kissed him back with just as much enthusiasm. Without breaking their locked lips,
Sophia twisted herself in CC's embrace so she could feel his entire body cuddle
against hers. They continued to kiss until they heard someone clear their throat.
Sophia reluctantly pulled away from CC's mouth and peeked around him to find
Kelly standing there. Sophia smiled shyly knowing the moment felt as if she was
a teenager being caught by her parents, except this time it was by her own
daughter. CC turned around and while laughing, he said, "You caught us making
out!"
Feeling slightly embarrassed by her parent's overt display of affection, she
replied, "Yes, I see that I have." She averted her eyes as if embarrassed by the
actions of her parents acting like teenagers. "It's about time you both got to
celebrate. I'm so proud of you both for recognizing what we've all known all
along that you two belong together, but right now we need you two to come into
the living room for a toast."
CC looked at Sophia and said, "We'll have to continue this later."
"I can't wait," Sophia smiled with a note of seduction and gave her beloved CC a
wink.
After the family said their goodbyes later that evening, CC and Sophia closed
the front door and looked at each other and laughed. CC remarked, "Well, we did
it sweetheart."
"We sure did honey. This is only the beginning of our journey and I know it's
going to be amazing."
They wrapped their arms around each other and walked upstairs. When they reached
the top, CC scooped up Sophia into his arms and walked her down the hallway over
the threshold into their newly decorated bedroom. "We're finally home. I love
you dearly Mrs. Capwell."
Sophia laughed and replied, "Yes, home it is Mr. Capwell."
CC set his better half down in front of their bed. He looked into her crystal
blue eyes and was instantly overcome with emotion. He tried to choke back the
tears. "I can't believe you are standing in front of me as my wife again. I've
wished for this moment for so long. I'm so in love with you." He placed his hand
on the side of her face. "I will never be able to show you how much I love your
beautiful face or your effervescent spirit. I love the very thought of you. I'm
so addicted to you." Before Sophia could reply, CC walked over to the sound
system and turned on the song Now and Forever by Anne Murray. He walked back to
Sophia and placed his hands on her shoulders. She could see intensity in his
eyes and she fell under his spell. He turned her around and pulled her close to
him. While he snaked his arms around her waist, he leaned down and kissed her
neck. Sophia closed her eyes as his sensual kisses brought her senses to the
brink of insanity. His hands found their way to her back and he began to unzip
her dress. He pushed the sleeves over her shoulders and placed his hands on her
bare skin. Sophia's body shivered underneath his touch. CC whispered, "Honey are
you okay? Are you cold?"
In a breathy voice, Sophia answered, "No, darling, I'm not cold. Actually, I'm
quite hot. I feel so good being in your arms." She removed her dress and threw
it over a chair. CC wrapped his arms around her waist and began to plant several
kisses on her right shoulder and then across her back and then over to her left
shoulder. He slid her bra straps down and was about to unhook it, when Sophia
spun around. "Wait; let me help you out of that tux first. I can't be the only
one in a birthday suit." CC smiled at her and quickly squirmed out of his jacket
and threw it over the nearby chair. He began working on the knot in his tie as
Sophia pulled the sides of his shirt up from underneath his belt. By the time he
finished slipping his tie away from his neck; Sophia was already half way done
with unbuttoning his shirt. CC began to help with the remaining buttons so
Sophia reached down and began to remove his belt. By this time, the newly
married couple was at their heightened state of anticipation. Once she unlatched
his belt, Sophia gave it a tug to release it from CC's waist. Once in hand, she
lifted it up to show him as if it was a prize. She then deliberately let it drop
to the floor. CC could resist no longer and leaned down to capture the soft lips
of his incredibly, sexy bride. In between kisses, he said, "I won't let go this
time. I promise. You have completed my life. You have made every fantasy come
true."
"I love being your wife. You have me for life Mr. Capwell," declared
Sophia.
CC walked Sophia over to their bed. He leaned her back upon the blankets and
covered her body with his. They spent their wedding night pleasing each other as
if it was their first wedding night. They rekindled their romance as being
husband and wife again. This time, it would be for all eternity.
The following day, the Capwell plane jetted them off to Hawaii for a week long
honeymoon. They spent their days relaxing on the beach, swimming in the ocean
and sightseeing, but most of all, just enjoying their alone time together. On
the last night of their vacation, they had dinner in a quaint little restaurant
at the resort they were staying. After they finished, Sophia excused herself to
their room, while CC took care of the final expenses with the concierge.
When CC walked into the honeymoon suite he looked around for Sophia, but she
wasn't in the living room or kitchen. He turned his head and noticed that the
door to the bedroom was closed. He hoped that nothing was wrong with his new
bride so he tentatively opened it. The lights were off, but the room glowed in
the soft hues of yellow from the flickering of candlelight. CC scanned the room
and when his eyes settled on the bed, that is where he found Sophia lying back
on a pile of pillows. Her shoulders and arms were bare as just a sheet covered
the rest of her. "Welcome back honey," Sophia said in her sexy voice.
"This is certainly a warm welcome. The room looks inviting, but the sight of you
is absolutely breathtaking!" exclaimed CC.
"Close the door and come a little closer. I've already warmed up the bed,"
Sophia said with seductive eyes.
CC's hands went to work on undoing his tie and then undoing the buttons on his
shirt as he moved towards his magnificent wife.
"Here, let me help you with that." As Sophia sat up onto her knees, the sheet
slid down her body. CC inhaled deeply at the sight of her and he whispered, "You
are an incredible vision."
Sophia grasped CC's right hand and pulled his shirt sleeve off. As soon as his
hand was free, he placed it on the side of Sophia's face and said, "I'm not sure
how I got so lucky, but I am beyond indebted to destiny for bringing you back to
me." He slid his hand down to her neck, across her shoulder, down her arm and
took her hand into his. He brought her hand up to his mouth and kissed her
wedding ring softly.
While removing CC's shirt from his left hand and letting it fall to the floor,
she replied, "Let me show you how lucky you really are." She ran her hand up his
chest to his shoulder and then pulled him down upon her as she leaned back into
the pillows. Just when he couldn't believe it could happen anymore, he felt his
soul falling deeper in love with the woman whom he was now kissing deeply.
When they were returned home from their honeymoon, neither CC nor Sophia were
saddened by its ending since they knew that walking through the mansion door was
just the continuation of them rekindling their lifelong love affair.
