Friend
of Mason Capwell's, Bobbie is a young blonde woman who, although having
a fixed job at the city casino, is occasionally brought to prostitute
herself. Bobbie is one of the long list of girls who work or have worked
for Ginger Jones.
Waitress
at the casino, Bobbie regularly meets Mason Capwell. She is also the
first to come to see him, while he sets up his lawyer's office at a
gaming table (after his office in the State Street bar). Curious by
nature, she comes to try to understand why he is doing this. She even
attends the arrival of his first client, Augusta Lockridge.
At
other times, Bobbie occasionally officiates as a prostitute. She looks
for her customers near the shuttle that connects the city to the casino,
since it is at Buzz's Place that her path crosses that of Dr. Mark
McCormick. From the moment they meet each other, they know each one's
role : the hunter and the prey. After a drink and a few words, Bobbie
drives Mark home.
There,
accustomed, Bobbie kisses Mark, not knowing that in reality Mark comes
to see her to be the one who takes the lead. Bobby replies that
she likes when a man is in charge. She lands on the bed, but Mark
sits next to her and starts a conversation before undressing and hugging
Bobbie. In face of Mark's helplessness, Bobbie tries to give him some
comfort, which makes Mark even more uncomfortable. Humiliated and vexed,
Mark cannot bear this failure. He blames Bobbie for this and hits her in
the face.
Later,
the road of Bobbie crosses that of Mason and Mary to file a complaint
against this stranger, before leaving her work at the casino, perhaps
hoping to build another life. Bobbie will then be the first one to
arouse the doubts of Mason towards Mark...
