In the United States, the popularity of the show Santa Barbara is such as a significant fan-club, gathering several thousands of members, was created to the glory of the stars of the soap-opera. Four hundreds of these fans, come to their expenses from the four corners of America, come to celebrate the second anniversary of the show in the superb Stouffer Concourse Hotel of Los Angeles, in the presence of stars of Santa Barbara. A Martinez (Cruz Castillo) came in company of his wife Leslie and their son Dakota Lee, two months old, and of who it was the first outing. Lane Davies (Mason Capwell) arrived at the hotel in a beautiful white limousine, accompanied by the blonde Kathy Shower, sacred "playmate of the year" by the magazine Playboy, and who played in the show the character of Janice Harrison. During the evening, a touching homage was offered to Dame Judith Anderson, the eldest of Santa Barbara, and Todd McKee and Jed Allan, father and son in the soap, amused all the guests by playing an irresistible sketch. But it is the finale which was undoubtedly the most marvellous moment, all the stars and their fans singing together the song I want to live in Santa Barbara. More than ever, stars and public were associated in this real triumph... |
