Mary's death | |||||

When it came time to devise Mary's untimely demise on Santa Barbara, the writers must have looked to Sesame Street for their warped inspiration : it was the dread "Murder by alphabet".
One minute, Mary was standing on the hotel roof in what looked to be hurricane force winds. (Isn't this where we all go to hold private conversations ?) After it creaked and swayed for what seemed like an eternity, the recalcitrant "C" on the Capwell sign came crashing down on the innocent ex-nun, killing her.
The abrupt manner in which the Mason / Mary story line was short-circuited made no sense at all left viewers feeling shocked, hurt and angry. They suffered with this couple for months, hoping that eventually Mason and Mary would get together and be happy for at least a little while. Cruel.
