Johnson made his first Santa Barbara appearance February 05 as a Las Vegas grifter who gets involved with Lily (Paula Irvine). A Vermont native, Johnson has been living in Los Angeles for the past five years. The actor admits he misses his home. «I miss the change of seasons,» he says, «especially autumn. I love driving through the country, looking at the brightest oranges, yellows and reds in the world.»

While he wasn't given much information about his mysterious Santa Barbara character, Johnson says he made up a lot of his own history. «My (character's) mother worked the casinos in Las Vegas, and she picked up a lot of guys. One of them was my dad,» he explains. «Then, she jammed off to New York with some rich guy, and I had to learn things by myself.»

Johnson says he also used Warren Beatty's performance in the movie Bugsy for inspiration. Although the actor is new to soaps, he clearly knows how to do his homework.
