A Santa Barbara celebration ! | |||||

Santa Barbara fans are a hearty, loyal lot. Undeterred by drenching rains or daunting distances, they congregated at Los Angeles' Stouffer Concourse Hotel for the second annual Santa Barbara Fan Club Dinner. Hundreds of fans, from as far away as Canada and South Carolina, formed a mutual admiration society with the Santa Barbara cast. It was truly an all-star turnout, and on this particular evening, the actors spoofed their daytime roles with onstage skits, and laughed along with their fans at a hilarious tape of "bloopers" and out-takes. Then, to benefit AIDS research, items like Cruz' tie ($200), and outfits worn by Eden, Gina and Sophia were auctioned off by celebrity auctioneers, including Joseph Bottoms (Kirk). A photo autographed by the entire cast raised $345 after frenzied bidding. And Gene Gonzalez made his wife very happy when his bid of $1400 won her the chance to spend the day as an extra on Santa Barbara, and have lunch in the NBC commissary with Marcy Walker (Eden), Nancy Grahn (Julia) and the rest of the Santa Barbara ladies. Live music added a classy touch. The evening closed with the Santa Barbara theme, as Chip Mayer (T.J.) and Susan Snyder (Laken) led the last dance. Fortunately, the skies cleared in time for the next morning's intramural softball game (team "Santa" lost to team "Barbara" by one run). It was a great weekend. Fans were able to take photos and collect autographs to their hearts' content, but even more important are their personal memories of this shared celebration. |

That becomes a tradition ! And they are not the three hundred fans come from the four corners of America who will complain some... The stars of Santa Barbara took part in the second annual dinner of the fan-club of this soap. All the stars of the show were there and the atmosphere was delirious until the little hours of the day. Robin Wright, who is always present on the stage, was very surrounded by all those who regret her decision of leaving Santa Barbara next spring.
