Sydney Penny brought a new energy to the ill-fated Santa Barbara and has been honored with a nomination for the role of B.J. Walker.

On the nomination :

"It's sinking in little by little. I have a different sort of outlook when it comes to awards. It really is a lovely honor to be nominated. I feel very fortunate, especially since the show went off the air, to be remembered. I've always felt that there is a great deal of politics around the whole award process, so I don't take them seriously. But I do consider it a great honor to be a part of this because it is your peers... and that means a lot to me. I've been doing this for 16 years and I appreciate the nomination very much."

On selected episodes to be judged :

"They sort of say that you should have one that's heavy and one that's light. I have nothing light. There's me going into a coma or me attempting to commit suicide or the one where I try to kill... One of the episodes that I've chosen is with Nicholas Walker (Frank), where I tell him that I didn't like what he did and he's a bad person. I had some great stuff with A (Martinez, Cruz) that I'd love to use, but it's all so heavy. Then again, I don't think that I had one little light moment the whole year."
