Despite
his young age, Brandon DeMott Capwell was certainly entitled to a love
story. And so it came to pass at the beginning of 1989. It all starts
one evening when he accompanies his mother Gina to the western bar The
Corral, where Mason Capwell / Sonny Sprocket is performing. While he is
feeling incredibly bored, he is approached by a girl his own age, Anisa,
who turned out to be the bartender's daughter. The two immediately hit
it off, displaying a remarkable maturity for their age.
The
next day, Brandon wants to get in touch with Anisa again but does not
know how. Bunny Tagliatti helps him gain the confidence to call her.
Brandon then meets Anisa for a real date, this time at a video game
arcade.
The
two seem very close, and Anisa is thus invited to Gina and Mason /
Sonny's wedding a few days later. When the wedding ends in disaster,
with Sonny shot before the end of the ceremony, Brandon is consumed by
guilt and feels responsible for his mother's misfortunes. He writes a
farewell letter to Gina and goes to Anisa's home, where he proposes they
run away together. Bathed in the light of a lunar eclipse, the two
children kiss, and Brandon spends the night sleeping on Anisa's balcony.
He finally returns home the next morning.
This
somewhat magical evening for Brandon will, however, be the last he
spends with Anisa, who disappears from the show without explanation.
Perhaps a love story involving young Brandon simply did not inspire the
writers enough...
