Chauffeur
of the Lockridges for years, Ambrose could even be considered as Minx
Lockridge's personal driver, due to her age. Ambrose has an important
peculiarity : he does not seem to be impressed by Minx and her crop, as
well as by her anger. Probably the years in Minx's service have made him
immune to it !
On
July 30, 1984, he drives Minx back home. The presence of journalists in
front of the Capwell property, next to the Lockridges, forces him to
stop for a moment. Minx gives Ambrose a whip to restart, while
criticizing the Capwells and their need to make headlines.
Another
time, he leads Minx to the former Lockridge beachfront property, now
owned by the Capwells. There, as the police will tell it later, Ambrose
tried to stop the old lady from beating the new keeper with her crop.
And it is with a certain detachment that he listens to the old woman's
criticism about him.
Ambrose
will then disappear from the life of the Lockridges, officially for
Australia, Minx having found in Brick Wallace a young substitute to his
position as a personal chauffeur...
