In charge of the preliminary hearing regarding Kelly Capwell Perkins, Judge Amanda Conway receives in her office Kelly, who is accompanied by family lawyer George Pirson, by C.C., Justin Moore, Nick Hartley and Cruz Castillo. Amanda Conway must decide on the murder charges for which Kelly could be tried following Dylan Hartley's death. First of all, Amanda, although relatively young, appears to be a judge who seeks to enforce the law with respect to victim and culprit. Although she knows C.C. Capwell, she is not a woman to be intimidated or to obey his orders. Moreover, if she listens to the lawyer's first objections, she dismisses them to focus on Kelly's answers. She is fully invested in the mission entrusted to her.

This preliminary hearing is being held in her office. Before the hearing, Cruz confirms to her that no weapon was found in the hotel room. She then asks the first questions to Kelly, who confirms that Dylan had a weapon with him. And when she asks Kelly to confirm the words that he said, Judge Conway will understand that, in Kelly's confused mind, the scenes with Dylan are replaced by similar scenes from the past with Peter Flint. Kelly's last words are chilling : she is even happy that Peter is dead.

Her decision is made quickly. In accordance with her values, her principles and especially in accordance with the state of the accused, Judge Amanda Conwy orders that Kelly Capwell Perkins would be taken to the psychiatric hospital of the city. No matter to her the cries and C.C.'s possible threats, Kelly needs help; help that only a specialist can provide.

Judge Conway, thinking she is making a fair decision, will drive Kelly without knowing it on a road even more dangerous for her fragile psyche, since it would be thanks to Dr. Rawlings' care that Kelly should regain a certain balance...

Appearance too brief, the role of Judge Amanda Conway would have deserved to be developed, because few are the judges in Santa Barbara who seem able to stand up in front of powerful C.C. Capwell...
