During 1988, Cain Garver leaves his boat, become too small, to settle in a house with his fiancée Andrea Bedford and his daughter Ming Li whom he has just found. The house is of Spanish style : white walls, rounded contours around doors and room dividers. The front door opens directly onto the living room, with a small desk, then on the right on entering, a small fireplace.

In the center of the room, a wall separates the sofa to the dining table. On the left wall upon entering, some large windows illuminate the room despite wood blinds perpetually drawn.

At the end of the room, it is necessary to walk around a separation wall (which serves as a small bookcase) to access other the rooms, including bedrooms. But of the whole house, only the living room will be seen on the screen.

The decoration of the room does not include souvenirs (no photos), nor personal or decorative elements. The dark solid wood doors, as well as the color of the furniture, bring a certain feeling of suffocation, especially since only few light filters through the Venetian blinds.

The house will know quite any moment of happiness, because after facing Ming Li's lies and the death of Andrea, Cain will find himself quickly alone. This is what will lead him to return to live at that time in his cabin in the Utah mountains.
