Of a modest and very catholic origin, the Andrade family lived some time in Mexico (near the Castillo family, Cruz having only a street to cross to see his young friend Santana) before coming to settle down in California. Married during their youth, Rosa and Ruben have four children (among whom only two will appear on screen). At the service of the Capwells for several years, Rosa and Ruben are certainly holders of many secrets concerning the life of this wealthy family. For a long time in the eyes of the five Capwell children, Rosa played the role of a surrogate mother, compensating for Sophia's absence.

Rosa and Ruben live in a small house away from the rich districts. Of all their children, only Danny still lives with them, because Santana owns her own apartment (Olivia and Gabriella are older than the young boy and have certainly already left the family house to live their life). Although of modest origin, the Andrade children enjoys the privileges granted to the Capwell children : the park of the property, with swimming-pool and tennis court, but also the possibility of making their studies to Lyman prep. They have relatives in Hollywood (Raul who accommodates Danny, Ted, Jade and Laken in 1984) is a cousin, and in Mexico (Helena is Rosa's sister).

Mainly made of women, the Andrade family is bound due to its work and its relations to the Capwells : Santana is the main axis of the interactions between these two families, because of her links with Channing Junior and C.C. Capwell. She will even have several affairs with him. Very religious and profoundly law-abiding, Rosa and Ruben have respite to try to transmit these values to their children. In vain, because Santana delivers a child out of wedlock and because Danny dives into the hell of drug addiction. In 1987, it is Ted who confirms to Laken that he is in a detoxification center.

Over the years, the Andrade family will lose of its importance, although we got acquainted only with two of the four children; only Rosa and Santana will survive along the years. Santana will know several comebacks, because of her constant need to take back Brandon to his foster mother.
